Survivors of a shipwreck off
Greece's Peloponnese peninsula sit inside a warehouse at the port
in Kalamata town, on 15 June 2023 (AFP)
Three days on and more questions than answers are emerging on
how a rusty trawler carrying "hundreds" of people
sank off the Greek coast in the deepest part of the
Mediterranean Sea.
On Friday, the United Nations called for an
urgent investigation into the incident as hundreds were feared
missing - including 100 children onboard the vessel.
Greek officials said it recovered the dead bodies of 78 men,
women and children in the immediate aftermath of the shipwreck on
Wednesday. Since then, no bodies have been found.
Around 104 survivors - all men and primarily Syrian,
Egyptian and
Pakistani - were rescued after the incident, though as many as 500
more people are missing and feared dead.
But as Greek officials wrap up its search operation, many are
asking if the Hellenic coastguard and its European partners could
have done more to rescue people onboard the ship.

Australia Trying to Play Down War Crimes
Committed in Afghanistan Russian MFA
According to Maria Zakharova, new data about Australian war
crimes make it clear that "this issue is institutional and
deeply-rooted, particularly in the elite units of the countrys
armed forces"
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova Sergey
Bobylev/TASS
Sergey Bobylev/TASS
MOSCOW, June 16. /TASS/. The Australian authorities are seeking
to "soft-pedal" the war crimes that the countrys troops committed
in Afghanistan, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria
Zakharova said in a statement on Friday.
"Its absolutely clear that the ruling establishment of the Green
Continent is trying its best to soft-pedal the issue of the war
crimes committed by Australian troops in Afghanistan, a topic it
finds very uncomfortable. In any case, this seemed to be the
underlying reason behind the activity - or, more precisely, the
inactivity - of the previous liberal cabinet led by disgraced Prime
Minister Scott Morrison, which included a no less notorious defense
minister, Peter Dutton," the diplomat noted.
"Members of veteran organizations, media outlets and some
political forces not affiliated with the current authorities have
been pointing out that attempts to close the shameful Afghan files
by putting all the blame on privates and sergeants from special
operations forces were unacceptable. In particular, Senator Malcolm
Roberts of the One Nation opposition party suggested during
parliamentary hearings in May that Chief of the Australian Defense
Force General Angus Campbell return the Distinguished Service Cross
that he was awarded in 2012 as commander of the Australian troops
in the Middle East," Zakharova went on to say.
According to her, new data about Australian war crimes make it
clear that "this issue is institutional and deeply-rooted,
particularly in the elite units of the countrys armed forces." "The
ruling circles attempts to hush the public outcry by taking only
palliative measures indicate double standar...

A new mood of defiance in the Global South has generated
bewilderment in the capitals of the Triad (the United States,
Europe, and Japan), where officials are struggling to answer why
governments in the Global South have not accepted the Western view of the
conflict in Ukraine or universally supported the North Atlantic
Treaty Organisation (NATO) in its efforts to weaken Russia. Governments that
had long been pliant to the Triads wishes, such as the
administrations of Narendra Modi in India and Recep
Tayyip Erdogan in Trkiye (despite the toxicity of their own
regimes), are no longer as reliable.
Since the start of the war in Ukraine, Indias Foreign Minister
S. Jaishankar has been vocal in defending his governments refusal
to accede to Washingtons pressure. In April 2022, at a joint press
conference in Washington, DC with US Secretary of State Antony
Blinken, Jaishankar was asked to explain Indias continued purchase
of oil from Russia. His...
The technicality? Informed consent. Very minor. Totally
unimportant. I dont know why we even bother.
For those unfamiliar with this slop, the assessment of the
psychological state of young trans people was obtained by
soliciting self-reports from their parents, parents
recruited from web sites where people obsessed with trans issues
gather. All their data was gathered from an anti-trans website! Its as
if someone looked up the parents of scientists by finding their
posted comments on Answers in Genesis, and then came to the
conclusion that all evilutionists were formed by resentment of
their pastors and association with god-hating school clubs, and
determined that scientists were all pathological basket-cases.
I dont know how it got published in the first place. The authors
are openly biased, they pulled all their data from an openly biased
website, and they even admit in the paper that there is a chance
their results were biased, and somehow, it got accepted anyway.
Surprise, if you poll posters to a site called ParentsOfROGDKids,
youll get testimonials to the existence of ROGD.
Another surprise: they even say in the paper that The initial
purpose of the survey was not for scientific publication, but
information gathering for a community of parents with shared
concerns. Then, what the hell, they published it anyway.
Oh, and if you want to know where one of the authors, J. Michael
Bailey (hey, I also
mentioned him yesterday) is coming from, this might help:
Sustainable Population Australia (SPA) considers
Australias population growth rate in 2022 too high and called on
the federal government to put a brake on
immigration. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS)
released the latest population figures today showing Australias
population grew by nearly half a million (496,800 or 1.9%) in the
year ending 31 December 2022. The two components of growth were net
overseas migration (immigration minus emigration = NOM) at 387,000
and natural increase at 109,800.
SPA national president Ms Jenny Goldie says nearly half a
million added to a population of 25.8 million from the year before
was simply unsustainable.
As all recent and reliable surveys confirm, the Australian
people are strongly opposed to whats going on, says Ms Goldie.
Prime Minister Albanese knows this.
At 387,000, NOM is simply too high and must be cut, though
Treasury is clearly planning to maintain these extremely high
levels. Its rationale is to increase economic growth yet it takes
no account of environmental and social factors.
And although immigration increases economic growth at the
national level, at the per capita level, growth does not
necessarily occur.
Our environment continues to decline with important habitats
threatened by urban expansion, not least the last remaining
Chlamydia-free koala habitat in Sydney.
And housing is simply not keeping up with the increased demand.
Nor can other infrastructure keep up with such unrelenting
immigration-fed population pressures.
Western Australia experienced the highest growth of 2.3% in the
country and, as a consequence, Perth is predicted to record the
biggest shortfall of 25,200 dwellings by 2027.
Ms Goldie notes that, historically, new migrants have
understandably gravitated to the major cities because that is where
they are more likely to find people of their own nationality.
Our cities, however, are under immense strain with inadequate
public transport and massive road congestion, particularly in
Sydney and Melbourne, each with populations of over five million,
she says.
Strategies to get people to move to the country have had limited
success. The only solution is to slow population growth
significantly by cutting immigration, given natural increase is
declining naturally at last.
I ask MPs to do the simple sums and answer this: Given the rate
of population increase and the much lower rate of building housing,
hospital and other infrastructure requirements, when if ever will

Every family deserves their home to be a safe haven. However,
there are often hidden hazards hiding in plain sight. While some
household hazards are obvious and next to impossible to miss, the
real danger lurks in those less obvious hazards that so many of us
overlook.
Today, well discuss 5 of the most common hidden dangers around
the home, and what you can do to eliminate them. Lets begin.
Old Lead Paint
If your home was built before 1970, theres a very good chance
that lead paint was used on your walls. Even if your home has been
repainted, it could still be lurking a few coats deep. The
recommended amount of lead in domestic paint has dropped from 50%
in 1965 to 0.1% in 1997 due to toxicity, and is especially harmful
to children, pregnant women and unborn babies.
While well-maintained lead paint thats in good condition doesnt
pose any hazards, its if it begins to flake or chalk that the
trouble begins. It can also be very hazardous when its on surfaces
that are exposed to high amounts of friction, such as windows,
doors or railings. People renovating their homes are in the most
danger when it comes to lead exposure, so if you suspect your home
has any traces of lead paint do not attempt to amend the issue
yourself. Instead, hire professional
painters who will know how to safely remove lead paint
and replace it with a lead-free alternative.
Radon
Radon is a naturally occurring gas, and can often find its way
into your home through cracks in your foundations, gaps surrounding
your pipes or wall joints. While its found in all homes at some
level, if the levels are too high then it can release radioactive
particles and cause damage to the lung tissue.
Radon is tasteless, odourless and colourless, meaning that the
only way to assess its levels is through a radon test kit. If you
find that the levels in your home are too high for comfort, the
best way to fix this is often through improving ventilation and
sealing cracks found in your foundation.
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
If youre buying new furniture, painting your
walls or installing new carpet, chances are that these
upgrades are bringing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into your
home along with them. These VOCs, such as methylene, benzene,
toluene and xylene, can release gas into the air that can cause
headaches, cold-like symptoms and nausea in the short-term and
cancer, liver and kidney damage and central nervous system damage
in the long-term.
The best way to avoid harmful exposure to VOCs is to buy either
VOC-free or low-VOC products, or ventilating any rooms where
upgrades have been made for at least a w...

Its not news the cost of living in Australia
is affecting everyone with rising inflation and interest rates and
a slow economic growth. But now some
experts are warning Australia is heading towards a recession. Is
this something we need to worry about?
Recent studies from ISME Communications reveal that the rise of
sea temperatures are causing sea sponges to lose important microbes
that lead to necrotic sponges.
Sea sponges play a crucial role in the coral reef ecosystem;
they detoxify, collect bacteria and process chalcogens. Some
species of sea sponges have even been wiped out in certain areas
due to climate change impacting the sea temperatures, thus
affecting certain species and climates of certain countries.

Heres my interview with ABC Radio Australia in Sydney and
Canberra where I discuss Cellebrite and other mass surveillance
tools that exist in the West with barely any public awareness.
The trio has reworked the classic Rooms for the Memory,
originally composed by Olsen in 1978 and later popularised by
Michael Hutchence, the frontman of INXS, in 1987.
The song featured in the cult Australian film Dogs in Space,
directed by Richard Lowenstein, holds a special place in the hearts
of many. To honour Olsen and support him during his battle with
Multiple System Atrophy (a form of Parkinsons), Adalita, Melbournes
Sing Sing Studios in January of this year.

interviews and reviews here.
Renowned producer Nick Launay, who mixed the original and this
new version, also participated in the project. Filmmaker Richard
Lowenstein, who directed the original Rooms video, captured the
entire recording session, interweaving footage of Hutchence and
Olsen from the past with the modern-day clip. The video is set for
a digital release today June 16.
The extended format of Rooms for the Memory 2023 will be released
this weekend, on July 14, through DRW Records. This release will
Space and a reworked rendition by Kav Temperley, the frontman of
Eskimo Joe.
Its just a hauntingly brilliant and beautifully written song and
when myself and a few of Ollies friends heard he was not well, we
felt we needed to do something to help, said Jane Gazzo, the songs
executive producer. Remarkably all the musicians, including Adalita
and Mick Harvey two of the countrys finest artists were completely
up to donating their time and had belief in the project. I think
this is a stunning rework and I really hope the music industry and
public get behind it and give it the new lease of life we know it
deserves.
All proceeds from the sales of the vinyl, CD, and digital
versions of the song will directly contribute to assisting Ollie
Olsen and his ongoing medical care. Olsen, a prominent figure in
electronic and avant-garde music in Australia, has been diagnosed
with Multiple System Atrophy, a degenerative condition for which
there is currently no cure. The Australian music industry has
rallied behind Olsen, raising over $20,000 through a GoFundMe
campaign to date.
Rooms for the Memory 2023 stands as a testament to the power of
music and the collective support of the music community. It is an
opportunity for music lovers to contribute to a worthy cause while
experiencing a hauntingly brilliant and beautifully written song in
a renewed form.
The boundary-pushing dark arts, food and music festival
WinterWild is returning to the Otways this August for three
days of music, art, food and fire.
Far from your average festival, the annual event will be taking
place on Gadubanud Country in Apollo Bay on the last weekend of
winter, 2527 August, featuring performances from satanic collective
Dane Blacklock & the Preachers Daughter, the formidable Jen
Cloher, Harvey Sutherland and rapper RidzyRay, as well as an
exciting lineup of art, winter feasts, masterclasses and much
more.
Keep up with the latest music news,

Beyond the glitz of Lorne, the untamed, rugged landscape of the
Southern Otways will provide a mysterious backdrop for ambitious
music, food and arts programming destined to bring thousands of
adventure-seeking audiences to the far reaches of the Great Ocean
Road to embrace the dark beauty of winter.
The festival will kick off on Friday 25 August, opening with a
Welcome to Country from Eastern Marr Aboriginal Corporation,
followed by free performances from Wemba-Wemba rapper
RidzyRay and other contemporary First Nations artists.
The music continues at the Apollo Bay Mechanics Institute Hall
with Ngpuhi & Ngti Kahu songwriter and performer Jen
Cloher, whose taut, terse brand of rock is charged with the
static tension that comes with being an eternal misfit. Jen will be
supported by disco-infused space-pop project Zo Fox and the
Rocket Clocks, Apollo Bays beloved singer songwriter Sid
ONeil, and the soulful vocals of local indie-jazz five-piece
band Outtatime.
The Great Ocean Road Brewhouse will stage a night of free music
with 80s legends Inked Factor, re-formed and travelling down
the coast to play their distinctive blend of post-punk and
prog-surf rock.

Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) have been shown to cause
biological damage and even cancer, but exactly how does this
happen? In this interview, Paul Hroux, Ph.D., a researcher and
professor of toxicology and health effects of electromagnetism at
the faculty of medicine at McGill University in Montreal, helps
answer that question.
Originally trained as a physicist, he eventually ended up
studying electrical power transmission lines, the topic of his
Ph.D., and in the course of working for a power utility, he started
investigating the health effects associated with the fields emitted
from power lines.
"I got involved in biology, followed courses in medicine and
became, so to speak, a different person from what my supervisors
initially would have expected me to be," he says. In time, he
became a specialist on the effects of magnetic fields on the human
body, and joined the Faculty of Medicine to help protect health and
the environment.
Types of EMFs
Broadly speaking, EMFs include electric, magnetic and radio
frequency fields. While the literature tends to discriminate
between low-frequency fields, high-frequency fields, microwaves,
electric fields and magnetic fields, all of these have certain
commonalities that allow you to lump them together, at least in
terms of their biological action.
"It's true that frequency influences the effects,"
Hroux says, "but basically I could, using an electric field or
a magnetic field, produce the same effect in a cell. Most higher
frequency signals have enough low-frequency components to have a
lot in common with low-frequency components.
The practical aspect of this is that usually the fields have
an effect maybe in one application, but they are mirrored in other
applications as well. There's a type of great unifying view that
you can have about these fields."
Nonthermal Effects Matter
It's important to realize that the damage EMFs cause has nothing
to do with thermal effects. At typical exposures, EMFs do not
create heat, which has been the telecommunication industry's main
defense and argument for the safety of cellphone radiation.
However, hundreds of researchers have in fact noted biological
effects both at low and high frequencies.
"Covering the whole spectrum, there is no doubt that there
are biological effects," Hroux says, adding "There's no
doubt there are substantial health effects that we have been
experiencing for a long time, and that have been increasing our
health bills.
German industrial company K+S has submitted a proposal to build
a saltworks in the Exmouth Gulf in Western Australia. Reaction from
conservationists opposed to the 2,600 square kilometre project by
the worlds largest salt company has been swift. The plan is to
produce 4.7 million tonnes of salt per year in the nationally
listed wetland, one of the last undisturbed arid-zone wetland
ecosystems along the coast.
Salt ponds walls will be built over the nationally listed
wetlands, which could disrupt the ecosystems nutrient flows via
tidal or flood waters into the gulf and disrupt the marine food
chain.
Photo by Andre Rerekura: Urala Creek at the top of
the Exmouth Gulf will be part of the development footprint
The proposal has bee submitted to the environment Protection
Authority (EPA). Almost 15 years ago, the EPA rejected a similar
project, because the evidence suggested the environmental harm
could be serious. This time the company has enlisted the support of
dome local business interests and managed to get an agreement from
some local First Nations people, and the outcome is not
certain.
Opponents say the K+S plan will risk the discharge of toxic
hypersaline water from the salt ponds, which will kill highly
sensitive mangroves and harm marine animals, such as critically
endangered sawfish and shovelnose rays living in the nearby creeks
and marine waters.
Rejection of the earlier project resulted in a set of
recommendations. They led the McGowen government to introduce
protective measures for the region, which included the
establishment of a new marine park for the eastern and southern
parts of the Gulf, and A status for areas of significance. This was
a recognition of the need to protect the Exmouth Gulf. The K+S
proposal flies in the face of this.
Local conservation group Protect Ningaloo wants to see the
project stopped. Its director, Paul Gamblin, said it poses too many
risks to the local environment.
The Tnr wastelands of northeastern Niger were once populated
by a forest of trees. By the 20th century, desertification had
wiped out all but one solitary acacia.
The Tree of Tnr, as it came to be called, had no companions
for 400 kilometers in every direction. Its roots reached
nearly 40 meters deep into the sand.
The tree had become a sacred object among the nomadic Tuareg
people that would pass by it on their journeys, never using it for
firewood, or allowing their camels to graze on it. As more desert
explorers came across the shockingly hardy plant, it became quite
well known and was even included as a landmark on European military
maps of the otherwise desolate expanse during the 1930s. When
Michel Lesourd of the Central Service of Saharan Affairs first came
upon the tree in 1939, he wrote:
One must see the Tree to believe its existence. What is its
secret? How can it still be living in spite of the multitudes of
camels which trample at its sides? How at each azalai does not a
lost camel eat its leaves and thorns? Why dont the numerous Touareg
leading the salt caravans cut its branches to make fires to brew
their tea? The only answer is that the tree is taboo and considered
as such by the caravaniers. There is a kind of superstition, a
tribal order which is always respected. Each year the azalai gather
round the Tree before facing the crossing of the Tnr. The Acacia
has become a living lighthouse; it is the first or the last
landmark for the azalai leaving Agadez for Bilma, or
returning.
For around 300 years, the Tree of Tnr was fabled
to be the most isolated tree on the planet. The acacia was the only
tree for 250 miles in Nigers Sahara desert, and was used as a
landmark by travelers and caravans passing through the hostile
terrain. The tree sprouted when the desert was a slightly more
hospitable place, and for years was the sole testament to a
once-greener Sahara.
In the 1930s, the tree was featured on official maps for
European military campaigners, and a French ethnologist Henri Lhote
called it, an Acacia with a degenerative trunk, sick or ill in
aspect. But he noted, as well, that nevertheless, the tree has nice
green leaves, and some yellow...
TheCharge of the
Light Brigadewas a catastrophic military
action of the Crimean War in which a British error of judgment
ordered cavalry to gallop directly into Russian
artillery.
This fatal mishap of1854, costing casualties of
two-thirds of the brigade, caught the imagination of the
Victorians, who couldnt stop obsessing about it. The calamity
inspired a popularpoemby Alfred, Lord
Tennyson, and eventually three films (made in1912, 1936, and 1968).
Americans tend to celebrate success, such as
the raising of the flag over Iwo Jima in World War II, or the
storming of the Normandy beaches on D-Day (along with British and
Australian support).
More recently, American success has been
equated with money, represented by such films asAir, which touted
the triumph of Nike in marketing the Air Jordan shoe, netting the
company (and namesake Michael Jordan) billions of dollars. This
monetary windfall is heralded in an end-credit crawl with solemn
pomp, as if the company had vanquished cancer or solved the climate
crisis.
But the British continue to have a curious
relationship with national failure or personal mishap. They have
their heroic moments, such as when Winston Churchill intoned his
inspiring speeches during the Blitz, the subject of countless books
and films. But youll just as likely find a movie about a
kingstuttering,
going mad, or getting hishead cut off.
Other films have celebrated General Gordon,
who wasbeheaded........

The Israeli government is at it again, actively
discussing the construction of thousands of illegal settlement
units as part of a massive settlement expansion scheme known as
E1.
Though Israeli construction in the East Jerusalem area has
supposedly been
halted under international pressure, the Israeli government has
found ways to keep the plan alive.
It did so through constant expansion
of the various settlements in the name of natural expansion,
confiscation of Palestinian land and the ruthless yet
routine demolition of Palestinian homes.
But why does Washington, Israels main defender and benefactor,
oppose, at least verbally, the construction in E1 while turning a
blind eye to illegal construction throughout the West Bank?
The answer lies in the fact that E1 will further expand the
Jerusalem municipal boundaries, minimize any Palestinian demographic presence
in the city (from the current 42 percent to about 20 percent), and
prejudice any political solution that includes East Jerusalem.
East Jerusalem is a Palestinian city
occupied by Israel during the June 1967 war. It is
recognized by the United Nations and international law as part
of the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Israel should have neither
legal rights nor jurisdiction there.
Washington, which rarely cares about the rights of Palestinians,
is concerned that, without East Jerusalem as part of the political
equation, any discussion of a two-state solution will become
forever obsolete.
In other words, the US is more worried about the political, not
territorial, consequences of the Israeli decision. Indeed, the US
entire political program in Palestine and Israel is situated within
the two-state solution template. Without it, Washingtons role would
cease to serve any purpose.
This is precisely why US Secretary of State Antony Blinken
criticized Israeli settlements during his speech to the
American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) on June 5.

thats going on as it all unravels faster and faster.

victims himself.
Yes its a long video, but knowledge always comes at a price. I
found this faultless, and I really appreciate his honesty and
passion.

In 1989, sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer started
the bluegrass quartet, Dixie Chicks, in Dallas, Texas. After some
reformation of shape, parting ways with bassist Laura Lynch and

Dixie Chicks really took flight, becoming the heralded country trio
that they are today.

It all began with Wide Open
Spaces. The 1998 album saw all three singles,
Theres Your Trouble, You Were Mine and the titular track all reach
the number one spot on the country charts. The album itself would
open the groups doors into the vast pop space, setting a record for
the best-selling duo or group in country music history at 12
million initial copies sold, an RIAA-certified diamond standard. It
saw them gain Grammy Award-winning status and significant
recognition from music institutions including the Country Music
Association and the Academy of Country Music.
The trajectory was fast for the three females, as they
continued to back it up with
1999s Fly, an album that
introduced us to the revenge story Goodbye Earl, and a song that
has amassed over 163 million streams, the revered Cowboy Take Me
Away.
It was after this rise that the first obstacle hit in the
form of a dispute with their record label, Sony, where they had
been withheld $4 million US dollars in royalties. Following a
private settlement, the Dixie Chicks were awarded their own record
label imprint, Open Wide Records, affording them more control over
their creative process and finances; a win in the industry game and
a platform for other female artists who had shared label
experiences to take action. It was at this point in their career
that the trio came into their own.
Perhaps one of the most famous covers in country history,
Dixie Chicks took on Fleetwood Macs iconic Landslide, released

As noted in the previous post, Australia's
population has been revised up, with estimated population growth
running faster than previously believed.
The rebound in population has been electric.
The ABS reported its December quarter estimates
which showed annual population growth at very high levels in New
South Wales (+138,000), Victoria (+137,700), Queensland (+116,600),
and Western Australia (+62,700).
Total population growth in 2022 was close to

That's less than, say, Canada, but it's extremely
strong growth for Australia.

Henry A. Murray has much to answer for. Between 1959 and 1961,
the Harvard psychology academic, as the leader of a team of equally
unprincipled academics,
was responsible for conducting an CIA-funded experiment most
unethical on twenty-two undergraduates. The individuals in question
were pseudonymised. One particularly youthful figure, named Lawful,
was the mathematically gifted Theodore John Kaczynski.
A central theme of the experiments was examining the effects of
stress, characterised by what Murray
called vehement, sweeping, and personally abusive attacks.
Ideals and beliefs were assailed; egos pulverised. For Murray, this
came naturally. He had cut his teeth designing psychological
screening tests for the forerunner to the CIA, the Office of
Strategic Services. It was perfect preparation for what came to be
known as Multiform Assessments of Personality Development Among
Gifted College Men.
Kaczynski was the less than grateful recipient of the higher end
of the experiment. I had been talked or pressured,
he told his attorney Michael Mello in August 1998, into
participating in the Murray study against my better judgment. It is
indisputable that he, along with other subjects, had been
sufficiently deceived to be victims of a breach of experimental
ethics known more commonly as the Nuremberg Code.
Drafted in the aftermath of the Nuremberg War Crimes Trial of
German concentration camp doctors, the code stressed the importance
of informed consent. The voluntary consent of the human subject is
absolutely essential, declared the judges responsible for
formulating the code. The subject should also be so situated as to
be able to exercise free power of choice, without the intervention
of any element of force, fraud, deceit, duress
Kaczynski can hardly be said to go on to better things, but they
were certainly bigger. In terms of notoriety, his position in the
technology obsessed undergrowth of the United States was assured by
his murderous and maiming efforts. His favourite method: the
package bomb, 16 of which were mailed to his intended victims.
Three people died; 23 were injured.
A central tenet of Kaczynskis thought was levelled at those
complicit representatives of what he called the Industrial Society
and its state manifestation. Far from being critical of power, its
methods, and its wielding by bureaucrats and planners, its members
were adjutants and prosecutors of a sinister agenda of behavioural
control.

Having just been named amongst the dynamic group of Australian
songwriters and composers as a recipient of the 2023 APRA

Were looking forward to having you in Geelong for the very
first Lightning and Rhinestones festival. What is it about this
festival that made you keen to be involved?
Whilst I love Melbourne and the Northern suburbs of which we
frequent, I always love any opportunity to diversify the venues we
play through. Really excited to be playing the Barwon Club and to
be featured on a bill alongside a bunch of country artists (and our
peers) that are just out there doing their own thing. I think thats

The people have spoken with their dollars, and companies are now
less likely to go woke. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) pushes the
CEI (Corporate Equality Index), a companys social woke credit
score. The Open Society Foundation, operated by the Soros family,
funds the HRC. The ESG promotes a companys green social credit
score, promoted by BlackRock and the World Economic Forum.
Companies were 31% less likely to mention these absurd social
scores during earnings calls this quarter, marking the steepest
annual drop and the fifth consecutive quarter of declines.
Financial research platform AlphaSense polled
companies from April 1 to June 5 to see where they stood. The
easiest thing to do is just to stay out of the conversation and
emphasize other facets of business that are going to be perceived
as less controversial and more core to the traditional metrics of
the business, said Jason Jay, senior lecturer of sustainability at
Massachusetts Institute of Technology. This is the approach
Berkshire Hathaway has taken under the lead of
Warren Buffett, who refuses to answer these asinine surveys.
The National Center for Public Policy Research, a conservative
thinktank, states that companies are discarding their fiduciary
responsibilities to shareholders by taking up social issues. They
also claim that these companies are discriminating against those
who do not share these far-left beliefs.

Wollongong Botanic Garden Greenplan Nursery is getting ready to
hold the next Native Plant Sale on Friday June 16 from 7.30am.
Although spring and autumn are really the two best seasons to
plant your garden, Wollongongs warm temperate climate means we can

you pull your gardening gloves on, heres what you need to know
about gardening in winter.
We asked Wollongong Botanic Garden Living Collections Curator,

The 2005 murder of German backpacker Simone
Strobel at the Tourist Caravan Park in Lismore led to the
extradition of her then boyfriend Tobias Moran (previously
Suckfuell, he changed his name when he married) from Western
Australia on 27 July, 2022. He was charged with murder
following a $1 million reward for information that led to a further
investigation into the homicide of Simones suspected
murder.
However, the charges have now been dropped by
the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The naked body of 25 year old Ms Strobel was
found on 17 February 2005 covered by palm fronds on a sports ground
about 90 metres from the Tourist Caravan Park nowhere she had been
staying with Mr Moran.
Ms Strobel had last been seen at the Caravan
Park on Friday 11 February 2005, after a night out with her
then-boyfriend and friends, said the NSW Police in a media release
at the time. Her body was found s...
Three seemingly disparate events that occurred last week the RBA
raising interest rates, the leaked audio and text messages from
Brittany Higgins and the resignation of Victorias Chief Health
Officer (CHO) Brett Sutton might well spell the start of the true
red pilling, or an awakening, for Australians.
You might wonder how?
Its obvious how the RBA rate rise matters to everyone.
Then theres Brett Suttons move to the CSIRO which you might
applaud or seethe over his legacy on households and small
businesses in Victoria.
But what about the Brittany Higgins scandal? Isnt it just a
political smear campaign gone wrong?
Let me explore with you how these events fit into the dire
situation our society is facing.
The RBA Governors Marie Antoinette
moment
Let me start with the Reserve Bank of Australia raising the
24-hour cash rate last Tuesday.
That event itself wasnt much of a surprise. Its the events after
that are worth shining a light on.
Right after raising rates and socking them to the ordinary
Australian, the RBA Governor Philip Lowe spent the night in an
extravagant function with the outgoing WA
Premier Mark McGowan, State Opposition Leader Libby Mettam and
several key business leaders. That dinner cost around $25,000, paid
for by you and me.
If thats not enough, the next day, he put his foot in his mouth
at the Morgan Stanley Summit when he
said:
If people can cut back spending, or in some cases find
additional hours of work, that would put them back into a positive
cash flow position.
So this is what he did.
He increased your financial burden, then headed off to an
extravagant night out at your expense. The next
day he told his buddies that you need to work harder and spend less
to make ends meet.
Talk about rubbing it in your face!
For months people have called for Lowes replacement given his poor
handling of monetary policy where he misled Australian borrowers,
stating that therell be no rate rises until 2024.
I can imagine these calls are going to escalate following last
week.

The koala in NSW is predicted to become
extinct by 2050. In response the Great Koala National Park (GKNP)
was proposed and in 2020 the Department of Planning Industry and
Environments (DPIE) identified 55,000 hectares of State Forests for
addition to existing National Parks as the Great Koala National
Park.
At the time the North East Forest Alliance
(NEFA) spokesperson
Dailan Pugh welcomed the news saying Its a step in the right
direction.
During the NSW election the Labor Party
committed $80 million to establish the GKNP which would connect
175,000 hectares of state forests with existing national parks,
creating a nature reserve of more than 300,000 hectares according
to the ABC.
However, in the meantime the NSW Forestry
Corporation, a government agency, continues to heavily log areas
that are proposed for the GKNP. Local communities have, and
continue, to actively block their logging attempts of these native
forests.
Boambee State Forest on the western edge of
Coffs Harbour, that is proposed to be part of the GKNP, is today
being blocked from logging by activist Ella, a forest protector,
who is 100 feet up a tree in a secured tree-sit in Boambee State
Forest.

Antidepressants can cause severe, sometimes irreversible, sexual
dysfunction that persists even after discontinuing the
medication.
Sufferers have described it as chemical castration a type of
genital mutilation caused by antidepressants, mainly selective
serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).
The condition is known as post-SSRI sexual dysfunction (PSSD), a
condition largely unrecognised, and the true incidence of which is
unknown.
David Healy, psychiatrist and founder of RxISK.org said, I saw my first
patient with PSSD in 2000, a 35-year-old lady who told me that
three months after stopping treatment, she could rub a
hard-bristled brush across her genitals and feel nothing.
Josef Witt-Doerring, psychiatrist and former FDA medical officer
said, This condition is so devastating that it will cause serious
changes to your life and to those around you.

23-year-old Rosie Tilli felt an increasing sense of anxiety and

if she experienced side effects, theyd go away once she stopped the
medication.

The Ukrainian blonde had the smell of trouble. She had perched
herself, along with her mute friend, in a restaurant across from
the famed South Melbourne Market. On arriving at the modish,
glorious bit of real estate known as Tipsy Village, a Polish
establishment famed for accented French cuisine, she shrieked: Why
do you have Ruskie dumplings on your menu?
The Polish host, a man of butter mild manner and infinite
tolerance, covered in stout glory, took it in his stride. That is
what they are called where I come from and that is what we serve,
Peter Barnatt stated with serene clarity. (Such wickedness! Such a
radical disposition!) The blonde shrieking wonder continued to
invest in the dumplings some satanic quality, as if each one had
been a shell, soldier, a weapon massed and launched against her
pristine homeland which she had, it seemed, abandoned. We would
just like coffees, she demanded. His temper finally disturbed, the
host insisted that, as the two were not intent on dining, might
just as well leave.
In a luxurious huff, they exited. Such behaviour was fascinating
for being irresolvable no dining establishment worth its salt and
cutlery should ever change that aspect of things. But for them, the
issue had been decided, a prejudice firmed up and solid.
Names on the menu are a signature of a restaurants worth.
Besides, dishes do not invade countries in tanks nor bomb cities.
The episode was also strikingly, amusingly moronic. Food had been
made out as somehow guilty, disgusting, revolting all because of a
name, an identity. The sin had moved in the dough, the mixture and
the potatoes, dumplings with agency. The restaurateur was all the
more guilty for hosting them.
Since the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the
gastro-culture war on serving dishes with a Russian name, be it
with hint, flavour, or substance, has been total. Hatred of the
Kremlin has become bigotry towards the dish. In Madrid, Sergiy
Skorokhvatov, himself Ukrainian and an owner of a restaurant called
Rasputin serving both Russian and Ukrainian cuisine, sensed
trouble. He
ventured into the thorny world of online discussions to clarify
the nature of what he was serving, which was considered wise given
what has happening to other restaurants serving Russian fare.
This method of insurance was not full proof. I thought that
changing things would help us, but then people started posting

LAGOS JUNE 14TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Elder statesman and Ijaw
leader, Chief Edwin Clark, on Wednesday, described the
immediate-past governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa as a traitor
and a very crafty man.
Clark also alleged that Okowa emerged as Atiku Abubakars
running mate for the 2023 presidential election on the platform of
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after spending Delta States
money on (Atikus) campaign.
He made the claim while appearing as a guest in an
interview on Arise TVs Morning Show.
Clarke revealed that the 17 southern governors had, ahead of the
2023 presidential election, resolved to oppose any party that
presented a northern presidential candidate in their primaries but
Okowa went behind his colleagues to team up with Atiku.
Let me tell you the reason why the whole of southern Nigeria
regards Okowa as a traitor. Let me tell you, he is a betrayer.
Okowa volunteered to host a meeting of the 17 governors of the
south. He provided accommodation for every one of them, Clark
said.
He provided his secretariat, I know the person who was the
secretary to the government at the time. They were there, they
drafted the communique supervised by him and gave it to Akeredolu
to read. He read it, then they all went to Lagos to confirm it,
they went to Enugu to confirm it, not knowing that the same Okowa
was spending our money for Atiku. I asked him in my letter to
answer it.
He added, The delegates of the PDP primary, who did they vote
for? Did they vote for Wike or Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom? They all
voted for Atiku. So, he deceived his colleagues that we should
produce the president from the south only to team up with Atiku to
betray us. All the governors know about that. He is a man who is
very ambitious, quiet and gives a wrong impression about himself
that he is a very good man. Very crafty man.

Further update, Wed 15 June:
Assange mentioned only once this week in Parliament this week,
whilst German MP speaks up (see Appendix 2 below). Although
Julian Assange was not mentioned either in the House of
Representatives or the Senate, yesterday, on Tuesday 13 June, there
is still good reason to hope that, over the remaining 7 days, in
which both houses sit (including today), we will hear members of
the Bring Julian Assange Home Parliamentary Support Group (Assange
Support Group) speak loudly in support of Julian Assange and hold
to account Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for his failure, thus
far, to uphold his duty of care towards Julian Assange.
At 6pm on Monday 12 June, Kirsten Kennedy, on behalf of
Queensland Greens Senator Penny Allman-Payne (pictured
above), responded to my email. Her response has been posted as a
comment beneath the article containing my
Open Letter. From her reply and from the page linked to in that
reply (greens.org.au/magazine/free-assange) I can see
that Senator Allman-Payne speaks on behalf of all Greens Senators
and Members of Parliament.
Nonetheless, I still think it critical that the case for Julian
Assange be debated. From past experience, we can see that
yet further statements in support of Assange or the presentation of
more petitions will have zero impact on this government. Even a
further Question Time question will only, at best, embarrass the
Government momentarily, but do little to improve Assange's
circumstances.
As I have written before, if, as has been the case up until now,
Standing Orders don't allow supporters of Julian Assange to move a
motion, such as my suggested motion of Monday 12 June (see Appendix
1 below), then move for a Suspension of those Standing Orders.
Should the Speaker pronounce that procedural motion defeated, then,

ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on
Tuesday is starting a three-day state visit to Russia meant to
strengthen relations of friendship and cooperation at the
invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, authorities said
Tuesday.
The Algerian presidency said in a statement that Tebboune will
attend an economic forum to be held this week in the city of St.
Petersburg.
Putins invitation had been conveyed by Russian Foreign Minister
Sergey Lavrov during his visit to Algiers in May last year with the
aim of developing bilateral military, economic and humanitarian
ties, and in other areas.
Some Algerian media have criticized the visit amid Russias war
in Ukraine.
The timing is not at all appropriate, as this visit by the
president could be understood as a bias in favor of Russia in its
conflict with Ukraine, whereas officially, it has a position of
neutrality, the Maghreb Emergent website wrote on Monday, raising
concerns about a potential backlash from Western countries.
Tebboune answered a question on the issue during his last
appearance on public television last month.

with which we have historic political, diplomatic and economic
relations, but we also have good relations with the United States
and the countries of the European Union, he said.

It may not yet have dawned on Australia, but the rest of the
world is waking up to the threat of net zero policies. At our
recent editorial meeting in Melbourne, I was shocked to discover
just how far behind Australia is on this awakening.
Almost all media coverage in Europe and the US is already highly
critical of net zero. Even the politicians have woken up.
In Europe, French President Emmanuel Macron has called for a
halt on new green legislation coming out of the EU.
Germany successfully torpedoed the EUs attempt to ban combustion
engine cars.
In the UK, some councils are refusing to cooperate with the
governments demands to impose net zero policies.
Net zero is so unpopular in the UK that politicians are using it
as a punching bag for all sorts of barely related shortcomings. For
example, one minister is blaming her inability to carry out Brexit
reforms on the constraints imposed by the emissions commitment.
Companies worldwide are also turning their backs on net zero at
an increasing pace. Seven insurance companies have quit the
Net-Zero Insurance Alliance a part of the powerful group called the
Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero which pressures financial
industries into adopting net zero policies.
Even the only remaining cheerleaders for net zero journalists
are having second thoughts. The Financial Times covered the
staggering cost of a green hydrogen economy.
Financial markets cottoned on to this shift first. Green energy
stocks plunged in 2022 and clean energy tech companies favourite
bank in California went bust in 2023
Just when an energy crisis was supposed to prove renewable
energys credentials and capabilities, the world concluded the
precise opposite. It turned to coal instead.
While Australia still grapples with the impossible implications
of net zero, the rest of the world is already moving on to
pondering solutions instead. And, as slowly as humanly possible,
theyre reaching the painlessly obvious solution: nuclear power.
In October 2021, the UKs Independent Review of Net Zero report
commissioned by the government concluded that nuclear power is a
no-regrets option for the UK.
In April 2022, the UK government outlined its plans for nuclear
power. These include building eight new reactors plus smaller
modular reactors, set to provide 25% of the UKs electricity demand
by 2050.
In Japan, utility companies are applying for 27 reactor
restarts, with 17 passing safety checks and 10 resuming
operations.
In South Koreas March 2022 presidential elections, a pro-nuclear
candidate defeated an anti-nuclear incumbent who planned to phase
out nuclear power.
The countrys 26 reactors produce about a quarter of its
electricity, but the new president wants to increase this to at
least a third. Plans include extending the life of existing
reactors and building new ones.

The Reserve Bank of Australia lifted interest
rates for a 12th time in this cycle, to a cash rate target of 4.10
per cent.
This will have the desired effect of slowing
spending further in the economy (the latest data actually show this
is already happening, so the impact will be
accentuated).
CBA noted the decision was largely attributable to
the large increase in award wages announced over the past week or
so, and the 8.6 per cent increase in the minimum wage.
From a housing market perspective, this likely
means sharper increases in mortgage arrears, more builder and
developer insolvencies, and yet further declines in lending to buy
or build new homes (already at 15-year lows).
The Housing Industry Association noted that
approvals for multi-units have already fallen by two-thirds from
their highs, and that due to the long lags in this cycle we're only
now just starting to see the impacts of
the first interest rate hike.
Thus there is a monumental housing shortage
brewing in Sydney, while Melbourne's land tax grab on landlords
looks like lunacy, and seemingly risks creating a rental market
inferno.
Low-deposit lending fell to a record low in the March quarter
on the available data series.
High debt-to-income lending has also dried up, falling to
record lows.
Interest-only loans also fell to a record low 11.1
per cent of outstanding loans, which will suck a lot of dollars out
of the economy, but investors aren't going to be much interested in
the rental market this cycle until rents in Sydney and Melbourne
rise by approximately 50 per cent.
The Melbourne Institute eased a little
year-on-year from 6.1 per cent to 5.9 per cent.
The monthly reading was still elevated at 0.9 per
cent, although the figures do bounce around a lot from month to
month.
The highest ever monthly reading on this series
was seen in July 2022, so we can expect a more significant decline
in the year-on-year figure next month.
With the housing market firming, the Reserve
Bank's interest rate decision will be line ball this week, although
Gareth Aird (Commonwealth Bank) and Westpac (Bill Evans) have both
called rates on hold.
Financial markets are also leaning that way, given
the decelerating trend in inflation, weak wages growth, and
significant lag in the rate hikes delivered to date, with most data
coming in weaker than the latest published RBA forecasts, despite
the housing market rebound.

Inventories will add modestly, to this week's GDP
figures, contributing 0.3ppts.
May 31, 2023: The Australia-UK Free Trade Agreement
(A-UK FTA), negotiated and signed by the Morrison Coalition
government, came into force today, with the lazy media reporting
about its apparently wonderful benefits. Two Melbourne University
academics, Professor Margaret Young and Georgina Clough, analysed
its impacts on climate change policy in
The Conversation, and found it wanting.
The A-UK FTA does refer to the net zero Paris Agreement but does
not commit parties to specific interim carbon emission reduction
targets, or other measure to reduce climate change. This contrasts
with the UK FTA with New Zealand, and with the FTA Australia is
currently negotiating with the European Union.
The academic analysis showed that the UK-New Zealand
trade deal, for example, signals that in some circumstances, it
may be justifiable for climate action to affect trade. The European
Union has
proposed such action, in its plan to impose reporting - and
potentially, a financial charge on emissions-intensive imports.
The UK-NZ agreement also takes steps to eliminate fossil fuel
subsidies, in recognition that government support for the coal, oil
and gas industries distorts
prices and discourages climate action.
And the
pact between the European Union and Canada requires the
development of climate-friendly labelling and certification
standards on products.
Young and Clough acknowledge that the exclusion of
Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) from the agreement will
prevent fossil fuel companies from suing both governments over
climate change policies. They suggest that a working group required
under the A-UK FTA to review and monitor environmental provisions
relating to marine pollution from ships, ozone-depleting
substances, illegal logging and the wildlife trade should extend
its work to better integrate the climate and trade goals of both
nations by connecting agricultural trade with land...
A couple of weeks ago, Nafeez
Ahmed, whom I respect and whose work Ive been
following for a long time (even
featured here) wrote a piece attacking Simon Michauxs work on
the difficulties we will face transitioning away from fossil fuels.
I was gobsmacked to be honest because to me it looked like a total
backflip from his previous views on the future of civilisation and
its access to energy. You can read the article
here.
Ahmeds debunking of Simons work was entirely based on
assumptions of the ERoEI of non renewable renewable energy
harvesting technologies being far superior to the numbers Simon has
been using. Ive personally always thought that solar powers ERoEI
numbers were totally inadequate for running complex civilisation,
especially after reading Pedro Prietos work featured
here and
here.
ERoEI is critical to the success or otherwise of any transition
away from fossil fuels. As far as I am concerned, non renewable
renewable energy harvesting technologies simply dont cut the
mustard and Nafeez Ahmed is simply wrong. I cant help thinking hes
joined the ranks of the likes of George Monbiot who just cannot
come to grips with the fact their cushy lifestyles are as good as
over.
If youve been following DTM for a while now you will have heard
me talking about Dr Tim Morgan of Surplus
Energy Economics. Tim Morgan has been studying the collapse of
ERoEI, except he calls it ECoE or energy cost of energy. Its
catching on, heres
another great article explaining the impact of failing ECoE on
the global economy with some focus on the British one which is now
seriously floundering.
Simon has informed me that, perhaps as a result of the many
attacks on his work hes had to tackle, hes going to embark on a
seminal work on ERoEI with the father of the concept, Charlie Hall.
Im really looking forward to seeing what they come up with.
Also perhaps because of Nafeez article and the fact that Nate
Hagens is a close friend of Simons, Nate has just posted a very
informative video about ERoEI which explains why its so hard to get
the numbers right. I thought my readers would like to see it too,
enjoy..
Every day, I open the internet and
more stupid crap falls through the door. The amount of insanity
taking over civilisation today truly beggars belief. Its
incomprehensible. And its thoroughly depressing.
Take this push to destroy farming in the Netherlands and other
countries in Europe. To be sure, nitrogen pollution is a major
problem, but this will actually make it worse. Farming certainly
needs major reforms, no doubt about it, but this kind of reform
will cause serious food shortages. And just as we should be
recognising the
Metabolic Syndrome epidemic and eating more meat, not less Its
almost as though those in charge have finally worked out were in
overshoot, and are out to kill millions of people. Yep, my own
private conspiracy theory!
Done properly, animal grazing could improve the climate, not
worsen it. But hardly anyone seems to have any idea. Instead of
closing down farms, farmers should be re-educated. Heres a great
scientific paper written by a Dutchman about what needs to be done
:
The push for plant based diets is moving ahead at an amazing
pace. And just like the push for non renewable renewable energy
harvesting technologies, this is not only a technology doomed to
fail, but it is just as unachievable.

ERoEI, or rather lack of it, is
what will determine our future. So when a video explaining it
really well comes along I like to watch. Id never heard of Leigh
Goeringbefore. Initially he certainly sounds like
an intelligent person with a great grasp of the subject of ERoEI
and its history and the history of the deployment of modern energy
systems like fossil fuels and renewables. I even learned quite a
lot from this video. But then, he inexplicably starts waxing
lyrical about nuclear power as if it wasnt subject to all the
limits of the other energy sources he obviously thinks have no
future
Over the past few years I have come across a lot of this nuclear
fantasy. Its where Simon Michaux shines methinks, no vested
interest in any BS!
Leigh Goehring believes nuclear power has astonishingly high
ERoEI while he correctly pulls non renewable renewable energy
harvesting technologies down to realistic levels. A quick search on
work by Charlie Hall who invented the idea of ERoEI reveals
nuclear power has an actual ERoEI of 5~15. This is what always
happens when you include everything and dont cherry pick stuff to
make your favourite saviour look good.
Digging a bit further,
I found that the literature is very divided on the EROI of nuclear,
listing it at anywhere from 1:1 (i.e., uneconomical at any price)
to 90:1 (i.e., the most bountiful energy source in history). Limits
to growth will be nuclears last nail in the coffin. Were already in
a surplus energy crisis and theres nowhere near enough left to save
complex civilisation. I think its ironic this video is titled
shortage of everything, except, obviously, nuclear power
I cannot express how chuffed I am
this podcast has come up Nate is obviously too busy with all he
does to get involved with mere Mike Stasse on a personal basis, but
I do know he reads at least some of the stuff I post on social
media because hes left the odd comment on my FB wall. Then a week
or three ago, he mentioned metabolic syndrome in one of his
franklies I could not help thinking, did he pick this up from me?
Because to be honest Im literally the only one banging on about the
importance of this epidemic on FB, as it ties in with all the other
emergencies were facing.
Over the past seven or eight months, Ive learned a huge amount
regarding nutrition. Ive watched hundreds of videos and read tons
of articles on the low carb high fat diet, insulin resistance, and
metabolic syndrome but had never come across Robert Lustig. Having
said that, Im really starting to think that this whole issue is
finally coming out of the woodwork, as it should. Because I think
its a definite driver of collapse as health systems everywhere are
crushed. More and more people are joining the dots, at last.
Father Bob Maguire was an advocate for the poor, the homeless
and those who were marginalised by society. He was also a fierce
advocate for refugee rights. Many will have seen him at the
Park Hotel/Prison last year at age 87, when he entered the cage in
solidarity with the men held in the Park. []
The stroll takes in 12 sites along a 6.8km stretch around
Elwood, telling an oral history through songs celebrating a
wonderfully broad range of local topics from weavers to water rats;
music halls to middens; sourdough to spotties; migration and many
more to delight and enlighten listeners of all ages.
Out of the blue, this video of
someone Id never heard of before came up on my feed. It sure looked
interesting, and by the time I was half way through, I thought,
this guy is on the money, hes even on Simons page! But I was
wrong.. How anyone smart enough to show the best explanation of
climate change and its repercussion on the food supply Ive ever
seen could not know about peak oil is really amazing
Adam Simon is an associate professor of mineral resources with
the
University of Michigans Department of Earth and
Environmental Sciences. When you google him with oil or peak oil as
search terms, you get nothing. Bizarre
And as I suspected, hes also wrong about renewable energy being
cheaper. Everywhere I have looked, the deeper the penetration of
renewable energy, the costlier electricity is, and Texas is no
exception.
This should but wont put the idiocy
of the Hydrogen economy concept to bed. Paul Martin really knows
his stuff when it comes to the smallest atom in the Universe.
However, I was gobsmacked when he started waxing lyrical about
electrifying everything! He really needs to talk to Simon
Michaux..
As a result of the local greenies making an appearance
on our local Huon FM radio station, the southernmost station in the
nation, and talking the usual nonsense youd expect from energy
blind greenies, I offered to set the record straight and they
accepted. And theyre igoing to have me back.
RISE: Refugees, Survivors and eX-detainees is the first
not-for-profit Refugee and Asylum seeker organisation in Australia
to be governed by eX-detainee Refugees. We were founded in 2010 by
an eX-detainee who was held hostage in both offshore and onshore
detention camps after arriving by boat to Australia to seek
asylum.
We eX-detainee Refugees from RISE who were detained upon arrival
by boat in so-called Australia are alarmed by the UK governments
proposed stop the boats bill. We cannot call it a mere
coincidence that the current British ruling political party is
touting these xenophobic policies while at the same time employing
white supremacist Australian election campaign managers who have a
long history of using anti-refugee wedge tactics to win elections
in Australia at the cost of human life. Former Australian Prime
Minister and current advisor to the UK government, Tony Abbott, has
demonstrated an eagerness to spread this neo-fascist model in a
past statement, saying that Europe is facing a peaceful invasion of
asylum seekers while urging European leaders to secure their
borders with Australian-style policies to avoid losing control as
they risk losing their character. Australia is notorious for
creating the modern blueprint of refugee detention torture and
refugee boat turn back policies over decades to whip up xenophobic,
white supremacist sentiments for votes. Many of us eX-detainee
refugees are permanently disabled, and many of our community
members have lost their lives on land and sea due to these
murderous policies.
According to our experiences in Australia, the stop the boats
and boat turns back policy has caused a permanent blockade of the
right to seek asylum in Australia by boat. Persecuted refugees have
no choice but to make perilous journeys, traversing both land and
sea to seek refuge and safe haven. Australia undermines this
wholeheartedly and turns refugee boats back into the arms of
persecutors without any accountability. The Australian government
implements this final solution against refugees by brazenly
participating in joint military operations and espionage activities
with military dictatorships and war criminals and funding corrupt
government officials in the Asia Pacific to stop people smuggling
and save deaths at sea. We, eX-detainees in Australia, call on
UK-based rights supporters and politicians to stop more crimes
against humanity by blockin...

eX-detainee Refugees about Queer Displacement conference
While queers were parading with politicians, military, police,
and detention profiteers at the Mardi Gras, in so-called Sydney,
Australia, an organisation established by white queer refugees
called Forcibly Displaced People Network held a Queer Displacement
Conference. One of their sponsors was the Australian Department of
Home Affairs. In addition to this, the Department of Home Affairs
funded parts of their research on queer refugee settlement in
Australia.
What is comical here, is that their white saviour privilege and
colonial approach cannot be hidden. The organisers of this event
are clearly collaborators with our torturers. Thousands of refugees
who came by boats, all of whom are people of colour, have been and
are still being indefinitely detained, tortured, murdered, abused,
and deported under the direction of the Australian Department of
Home Affairs headed by Senator Claire ONeal. eX-detainees who
are subjected to torture and abuse by the Australian Department of
Home Affairs include people of all genders, sexualities, and sex
characteristics. There are an unaccountable number of queerphobic
practises and incidents of sexual abuse, torture, and murder faced
by the refugees in Australian-run detention centres for over 30
years.
In addition to overseeing detention torture and refugee boat
pushbacks of black and brown refugees, the Australian Department of
Home Affairs is also involved in ongoing espionage and border
security operations with overseas military dictatorships and other
corrupt money hungry officials in the Asia Pacific through the Bali
process to stop the boats and keep so called Australia white. Many
of us eX-detainees and detainees have sought protection from these
very same military dictatorships and perpetrators of genocide.
The eX-detainee and detainee community is arguably ONE of the
poorest, racially profiled, and systematically discriminated
against community groups in Australia as well as around the world.

Theres a lot of talk over the
internet about the current excess deaths numbers. Theres no doubt
its happening, the data is clear. Pundits like to blame the covid
vaccines. Maybe those vaccines have killed people, but what I find
interesting is that those people are dying of EXACTLY what people
suffering from Metabolic Syndrome die from.. It cannot be a
coincidence.
Tim Noakes reckons that 80% of Americans are insulin resistant,
and Id be prepared to bet Australian and British people wouldnt be
far behind. Insulin resistance must surely be growing
exponentially, just like everything else in the world is. Global
health systems are getting overwhelmed by this and will likely be
part of the looming collapse. Im more certain than ever that a
population crash is imminent. This is a couple of years old and pre
excess deaths data, but I think he pretty much would agree with me
today.
To top it all, the powers that be are wanting to make it all
worse by reducing meat consumption. I have no doubt that
agriculture is a serious contributor to climate change. You cant
drive all that diesel powered machinery, manufacture all the agro
chemicals and fertilisers, process all that resulting food and
distribute it globally with more fossil fuels in ships, planes and
trucks without belching more CO2 into our already overburdened
atmosphere. But then to blame cows is utterly bizarre. Because
theyre carbon neutral and could be carbon sinks if managed
properly.

What is the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras
(SGLMG)?
Started in Sydney as a celebration after a protest march and
commemoration of the Stonewall Riots of New York City back in 1978,
the parade was a march against discrimination, police harassment,
and the criminalization of queerness. Their rally was met with
violence by the police. Many of these protesters were arrested and
abused in police custody, and those arrested were further outed by
mainstream media, leading to detrimental consequences to their
lives.
The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is now an annual queer
party, arts and cultural festival for the privileged middle class
based in Sydney, Australia. It is predominantly run by queer white
people and a few handpicked queer people of colour. Like many
queer festivals around the western world, SGLMG is now bedding with
politicians as well as boot-licking the military, police, and
corporations. Following the diversity trend, in recent years,
Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras has been working towards ticking
diversity boxes after many years of centering [white] gays and
lesbians, whilst not updating the Gay and Lesbian in their festival
name.

The announcement that the more than 19,000 refugees on temporary

The amount of crap available on the
internet these days seems to be growing exponentially. And unless
you are equipped with the best quality BS filter, its not hard to
be taken in by it. Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes gospel
truth.
Take my recent health/diet epiphany. When I
wrote about it, I stated that going keto had fixed my prostate
problems. And I was amazed, because frankly, how could this even
happen in two days? It turns out that it didnt. Its a long story I
wont bore you with, but what the keto diet repaired wasnt my
prostate, it was my kidneys. So why did I think it was my prostate?
Because for years, medicos had been leading me up the garden path.
Yes I have an enlarged prostate, yes its probably impeding urine
flow, but its only mild and had nothing to do with my nocturnal
visits to the loo.
In July last year, I had my annual blood test and the doctor
said that my kidney and liver functions were not great, but it was
nothing to worry about just yet, keep an eye on things. Meanwhile,
I was getting UTIs far more regularly than any bloke should have
(women are far more prone to such problems), even puzzling the
doctors. Its not supposed to be my job to work out what is wrong
with me, its theirs, but so ignorant are doctors regarding chronic
inflammation and the damage carbs do that none of this even crossed
their minds.
Dr YouTube to the rescue. It turns out that among the
bewildering list of things carbs can do to you, kidney disease and
fatty liver disease are prominent. Having had another bout of urine
looking like strong tea after eating a single apricot (I am not
making this up) it was back to the doctor. By the time I got an
appointment (remember that our health system has started
collapsing) my urine looked normal again and I had another blood
test, which revealed, drum roll, that two months into the keto diet
those kidney and liver functions had gone back to normal. Even
then, the doctor started talking about antibiotics and seeing a
specialist. Im not doing any such thing I told her, Ill look after
myself thank you very much.
Ive since learned that more and more doctors are challenging the
standard nutritional diet guidelines. The result though is that the
establishment is attacking them left right and centre. We cant
expose all their lies, now can we?
Heres the latest, a UK cardiologist fighting the same fight our
local Tassie orthopaedic surgeon Dr Gary Fettke was exonerated for
two or three years ago. His name is Dr Aseem Malhotra.

appearance on YouTube came as some surprise. My old sparring
partner from Eclipse recently attacked and ridiculed me and Simon

(he never mentions him) using IEA data, and comes up with exactly
the same conclusions.... As usual, zero mention of

Death in Villawood (suburb in
Sydney, Australia) Another immigration death in custody in
Australian-run torture camps. 30/01/2023
It is not the first time and it wont be the last another death
in administrative immigration detention in front of your eyes.
Australia continues its white supremacy through refugee detention
policies. Who is accountable now? Racist politicians or the people
who voted them in?
Deaths in detention custody are triggering and trauma awakening
for our community members who have been in detention or are in
detention.
Who is going to repay the family and the loved ones for the loss
of this person who was driven by the detention torture system to
take their life?
There have been many inquiries and many reports of deaths in
custody, torture and sexual abuse within Australian-run immigration
detention centres yet nothing has changed and no one has ever been
held accountable. There have been eX-detainees including
eX-detainee elders who have spoken out against detention policies
for over 30 years but nothing has changed.
ALL three major parties in Australia, the Australian Labor
party, the Greens and the Liberal/National coalition endorse
mandatory detention policies ignoring how it contributes to
torture, trauma and deaths in custody like this. Australian
detention centres are torture factories and have caused irrevocable
harm to detention survivors. For Adam Bandt, Anthony Albanese and
Peter Dutton and most members of the Australian public, this news
is likely to be another headline story, but for the family who have
lost their loved one in the hands of the Australian government,
this is a lifelong trauma and loss. Another white supremacist day
in the colony.
Finally, the sinister, white supremacist dog whistling media
reporting on detention centres continues in Australia with for
example Guardian Australia and Australian associated press
concluding their news report of this victim who died after enduring
at least 5 years of detention torture with this bizarre statement:
Immigration detainees have access to health services, including
mental health services.

Refugees coming to Australia are being indefinitely detained
both onshore and offshore, involuntarily deported back to their
countries to danger and physically and sexually abused in detention
centres. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have shown
their greater solidarity with eX-detainees by raising their voices
against Australias white supremacist refugee policy. We would also
thank the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples for their
recognition and ongoing solidarity with us.
The crisis of disproportionate numbers of Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander youths and adults being placed in institutionalised
care, incarcerated and separated from their families and
communities is not a recent one. We believe this is systemic abuse
which has resulted in over 200 years of discrimination as part of
the British colonial genocide strategy.
RISE eX-detainees call on members of our community to stand on
the side of justice and equity. Take action at the very least, by
condemning any refugee community representatives who partake in
celebrations on Australia Day or event, that disrespects and erases
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples by glorifying
stolenwealth and genocide.
Finally, RISE eX-detainees urge members of our community, allies
and supporters to amplify and donate where possible to
self-determined Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples-led
movements and organisations.

We eX-detainees urge the Midsumma Festival to immediately cut
ties with security company Serco, Victoria police or any current
relationships with politicians both federal and state. There is
nothing to be proud of about the detention industrial complex and
any individual, political party, corporation and agency who benefit
from this industry. There is also nothing to be proud of about
police racial profiling.
Who are we ?
RISE: Refugees, Survivors and eX-detainees is a not-for-profit
association and the FIRST eX-detainee led and governed welfare and
advocacy organisation in Australia. RISE is a unique organisation
distinguished by its ethics of self-determination and community
control. RISE eX-detainees raise the bar in the non-profit sector
by ensuring we are not subservient to politicians or businesses by
not accepting blood money from the Federal government, State
government, local government or corporations who invest in prisons,
military or are complicit in land grab or labour exploitation.
What is the Midsumma Festival?
Midsumma Festival is a queer arts and culture festival based in
Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. They are predominantly run by queer
white people and a few handpicked queer people of colour. In recent
years, Midsumma Festival has been working towards ticking diversity
boxes after many years of being cis-white-able-bodied-queer
centric.
1. Serco
Midsumma Festival allowed detention supply chain provider Serco to
have a stall at the Midsumma Carnival last year. This is utterly
abhorrent and triggering for queer eX-detainees who have survived
rape and torture in the hands of Serco security as well as
dismissive of the torture and trauma experienced by other
eX-detainee survivors.
We question Midsumma Festival, who have authorised Serco to have
a stall at their Carnival event on 23rd January 2022. Serco has a
direct role in the Australian governments abusive, human rights
violating, asylum seeker trafficking, and detention supply chain in
Manus and Nauru as well as in onshore detention centres. Giving a
podium to Serco is an investment in the Australian mandatory
detention scheme and the continued abuse and torture of refugees.
There have been countless reports and inquiries regarding the
deaths, torture, sexual abuse and gendered violence faced by
refugees who have been incarcerated within Australias mandatory
detention centres.

Midsumma Carnival 2022
...
Australia has detained and stripped the rights
of all those who arrived by boat including hundreds of refugees
seeking protection from gendered violence. A Significant
number of them are Afghan Refugees. Thousands of Afghan
refugees are languishing inside and outside Australias detention
centres, without basic rights. We also cannot forget Kevin Rudd, a
former Australian Labor party Prime Minister and proposed Candidate
for UN secretary General, implementing a cruel and discriminatory
act in 2010, by freezing the Refugee VISA process for all Afghan
asylum seekers who came to Australia by boat.
The racist Mandatory detention centre policy
against refugees was created three decades ago, when some of the
current players on the national team were not even born at this
time. Yet so far, not a single cricketer or member of the
Australian cricket board has condemned this.
The Australian cricket board and its players
are a sample of white supremacy in Australia which thrives without
question. Furthermore, public figures and institutions in
Australia, conveniently call out and condemn other countries while
turning a blind eye to Australia a Disneyland for white supremacy
and refugee torture.Of course, we should
not be surprised by this, given that the entire board of Cricket
Australia, selectors, and as well as the top coaching team is
white. This is how white Australia reigns supreme in the silence
regarding torture and rape occurring in detention centres in their
backyard.
Shame on you cricketers and Cricket
Australia.
We are also wondering when Australian sports
organisations will for example boycott France given it has deprived
Muslim women/children of their rights by banning the hijab in
schools since 2004. We are further waiting for Australian sport
teams to boycott and withdraw from every sporting event connected
to countries like Israel, Sri Lanka etc for crimes against
humanity, land-grab, occupation and genocide. After all, to quote
the CEO of Cricket Australia himself Basic human rights is not
politics.
Afghanistan and Australia must be held
accountable for crimes against humanity and breaching the
fundamental rights of human beings.
Dr Gary Fettke is a Tasmanian
orthopaedic surgeon whose day job is amputating toes and feet from
diabetics. He also does hip and knee replacements. Years ago he
worked out that all this pain and suffering was not only
unnecessary, but easily fixed with diet. Yes you guessed it, a low
carb high fat (LCHF) Ketogenic diet. His story is amazing. He
started giving his patients dietary advice and someone didnt like
it and reported him to some overarching medical organisation which
threatened to have him deregistered from medicine! I kid you not,
the cereals industry is that powerful. He was exonerated, and now
hes on a campaign. Probably too late as everything is going to
collapse anyway, not least our health system.
The origin of the anti meat industry is thoroughly fascinating.
If it wasnt real, it would be a conspiracy theory. Someone should
make a movie about this, it has all the intrigue As an aside, since
embarking on my own keto adventure, all signs of the arthritis that
was developing in my hands have disappeared. The way my BP is
trending down Ill be off my meds within a month or two.
No-one will ever likely make a
documentary on collapse that I could completely agree with, but
this one comes close because it at least discusses most of the
important issues we discuss here. Climate, economy, energy, etc
Never mentions growth as a problem. And it ends, as usual, on an
optimistic note. No mention of ERoEI or surplus energy and my old
mate Ugo Bardi gives his usual thumbs up to renewables. At two
hours long Id recommend watching it on your TV.
RAC Vic has made a submission to the Department of Home Affairs
review of Australias migration system. RACs recommendations

When Labor recently announced without any
clear details, that 19000 eX-detainees are eligible for permanent
visas, Australian journos simply appeared to rehash the governments
PR/media brief and failed to question the Labor Partys own
culpability in Australias brutal refugee torture system. News
reports were published with minimal research, with token sound
bites from a few white saviours in the refugee support industry,
peppered with stories of trauma from an eX-detainee or two without
proper context.
In fact, some Australian journalists were not
even aware that eX-detainees on TPV were already allowed to travel
overseas to see family based on emergency reasons under the
Liberal/National coalition government. Job done this is journalism
in so-called Australia. By not exercising due diligence Australian
journalists have normalised the experience of detention torture,
rape and the existence of eX-detainee discrimination and violation
of refugee rights.
According to these various Australian news
outlets, the government says that they will give permanent
residency to 19000 refugees early next year.Next yearis in fact tomorrow! yet, not
a single journalist has questioned what early next year means. Is
it next week, the week after or just before June 2023? How long are
politicians and their advisors allowed to keep gaslighting and
tamper with our lives?
Furthermore, if you are applauding the Labor
party for allowing nearly 19 000 eX-detainee Refugees on TPV and
SHEV visas being granted permanent residency, you must do a reality
check onwhythese
eX-detainees were subjected to these miserable conditions in the
first place First inside detention centres and then outside
detention centres. The Australian Labor party is responsible for
the mandatory detention of ALL these 19000 Refugees as soon as they
landed in Australia to seek asylum by boat.
It is Labor politicians who crafted Australias
indefinite mandatory immigration detention system and tortured
eX-detainees back in 1992. Keeping this in mind, the Labor party
has blood on their hands more than any party in Australia over the
last three decades.
From 1 February 2023, problematic single-use plastics will be
banned from sale or supply in
Victoria.
The ban applies to single-use plastic drinking straws, cutlery,
plates, drink stirrers and cotton
bud sticks made from conventional, degradable, and compostable
plastics. The ban also applies
to food service items and drink containers made from expanded
polystyrene.
Single-use plastics make up a third of the litter in our streets
and waterways. They remain in the
environment for a long time, harming our wildlife and contaminating
our food and water. This
ban will also help reduce plastic waste and contamination at
recycling facilities.
Compostable plastics, such as biodegradable plastics, degradable
plastics, renewable plastics,
and bioplastics are included in the ban. This includes plastic
items with composting
certifications. Biodegradable or compostable plastic items can
still harm wildlife the same way
conventional plastic items do, if they are littered. Such plastics
require extended periods of time
or processing at a specialised composting facility in order to
break down.
The use of reusable containers is legal and an easy, affordable and
sustainable solution
businesses can adopt to manage the single-use plastic ban.
Consumers can BYO straws
especially for items such as bubble tea or smoothies and businesses
can encourage the use of
portable cutlery sets.

<p>Presidents report: (2nd November
2022)</p> <p>Another big year for the SCEG
committee:</p> <p><strong>Community Climate
Forum:</strong></p> <p>Apart from SCEGs core
work, weve also linked up twice with Surfers for Climate & SCS
at their Community Climate Forum. This was an opportunity for
people to find out what other groups are doing and to tap in to
areas of interest.
SCEG strategy document:
Weve also completed our 5 year strategy and its now under way
with 4 pillars: Andrew to provide details</p> <ul>
<li>Energy Transition to zero carbon energy</li>
<li>Natural environment & biodiversity
Reducing and preventing waste
A sustainable built environment.
The strategy is very much about a SYSTEMS approach to human
sustainability; its not just energy or carbon or just about waste
or biodiversity but responding to all of it as a network of
interconnected parts as opposed to silos. Graeme will provide some
more detail on that.</p> <p><strong>Spring Creek
valley:</strong></p> <p>The vision in a nutshell
is providing ecological stewardship to Spring Creek valley and to
return the ecological vegetation class of Grassy Woodland with
Bellarine Yellow Gum as the chief character species. It currently
mostly exists as just a thin sliver along the creekline. We plan to
do that using multiple strategy lines: For example:</p>
<ol type="1"> <li>By community ownership of a parcel of
land that is owned by the community and operated through a Board of
Trustees.</li> <li>Developing our Biolink strategy; and
SCEG has a high level Roundtable event later on this month to
assist us with our strategy on this.</li> <li>Through
encouraging Trust for Nature covenants on land titles</li>
<li>And by partnering with other landowners to develop
opportunities in say regenerative agriculture consolidated land use
such as BnBs or Ashmore Arts for example.</li> </ol>
<p>Importantly, the approach to this is SYSTEMS thinking with
Ecology, Energy, Economy and Equity our guide in thinking.
Using this approach not only helps us integrate planning but also
to think big. I constantly reference the work done by the community
in Wellington , New Zealand as the gold standard. Theyve literally
retrieved a lost ecosystem and in the process created a $30
million/annum economy for the local community.</p>
<ul> <li>Our partnership with TDLG means we are able to
implement a 2nd round of the Wild Otways
grant- another $19,030.00 for works out to June
2023.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>In addition, our
community development plans around Spring Creek valley through our
