Theres a growing movement to build a statue of Flume on Manly Wharf "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Flume is arguably one of Australias biggest musical exports in recent times. In addition to topping the worlds largest musical poll, the Sydney muso has also amassed a huge fanbase around the world, well and truly putting Aussie talent on the map. But now, theres a petition to ensure that Flumes legendary status is cemented by way of a life-size statue, because of course there is.

As The Fader reports, Joseph Smith recently took to the Change.org website to begin a petition with the intent of a statue of Flume being erected on Manly Wharf. Petitioning the Northern Beaches Council, and Warringah Council, the campaign states its goal rather clearly. Manly is home to Australias finest electronic music export, Flume. It just makes sense that the GRAMMY winning artist is immortalised on the wharf, right, the petition begins. Flume has released two studio albums and numerous EPs since bursting onto the electronic music scene, and has become an ambassador of Aus dance music.

If anyone deserves to be sculptured, its Flume!

Five days on from the petitions creation, its already managed to score close to 300 signatures, but it still has quite a way to go before it reaches its goal of 500 signatures. Of course, knowing how dedicated Aussie music fans are, it probably wont be too long before it reaches that goal.

This wouldnt be the first time that Aussie musicians have had statues made to commemorate their influence and legacy, so its not like this idea is exactly out of the question. However, if you consider the other artists that statues have been proposed for, including AC/DCs Bon Scott, INXS Michael Hutchence, and now Soundgardens Chris Cornell, these artists all have one thing in common theyre no longer with us. So hopefully we may see a new trend of commemorating the legacy of our still-living musos so that they can be around to appreciate it.

Check out and maybe sign the petition to get a statue of Flume on Manly Wharf here, but in the meantime, check out Flumes Hottest 100...

For reasons best known to themselves the production team of the BBC World Service radio programme Newsday decided that their lead story on August 24th should be a US delegations visit to the Middle East. The item (from 00:38 here) was introduced by presenters Lawrence Pollard and Nomia Iqbal as follows:

[emphasis in italics in the original, emphasis in bold added]

Pollard: So can the Trump administration pull the rabbit out of the hat and broker a peace deal between the Israelis and the Palestinians?

Iqbal: Huge question, isnt it? But its what the US team on Mid-East tour is hoping to provide the answer to. Led by President Trumps son-in-law Jared Kushner, theyve been to Egypt, Jordan and now Israel for talks with the Israeli prime minister and the head of the Palestinian Authority.

Green Manure "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

If you have a bit of space in your garden, growing green manures or cover crops is a great way to improve soil fertility and add organic matter to your soil. They can also be used as weed suppressants, and assist in the control of pest and diseases. So what are they, and where and when can you use them?

What is green manure?

Green manures or cover crops describe a range of temporary, fast growing leafy plants which are sown from seed generally in autumn or spring, grown through the next few weeks or months (depending on the season), and then, just before they begin to flower and set seed, they are slashed and turned in to the soil, or used as mulch for whatevers to be planted next.

Why is it grown?

You might consider growing a green manure crop in a new garden area to supress weeds, improve drainage, reduce compaction, stabilise the area to limit erosion, and improve the soil before you put in permanent plantings. Green manure crops are often used in vegetable gardens, in beds, or parts of beds which are given a break from vegetable production for a season to improve the soil and set the bed up for the next crop.

Vegetable gardeners might have some space to spare after the summer harvest, and if you have a crop rotation system, you could think of incorporating a green manure crop into the rotation check out our guide to crop rotation incorporating green manure crops here.

When to plant

There are different green manure crops that will thrive in different climates and different seasons.
If you want to plant a cool/cold season crop and you live in
an area with cool/cold winters (Tasmania, Victoria and southern New South Wales, southern South Australia and southern Western Australia), the best sowing time is early autumn. If its been very dry, wait for a bit of autumn rain before sowing. You can also sow cool/cold season crops in these areas in early spring;
a warmer area (northern New South Wales and southern Queensland, warmer parts of South Australia and Western Australia) plant cool/cold season crops a little later in April or May;
in a frost free area, cool/cold season crops can be planted from autumn until the end of winter.

If you want to plant a warm season crop, and you live in a colder area, plant in spring, once theres no risk of frost. In warmer areas, plant in summer whenever you can rely on rainfall, or are able to irrigate. If you live in a tropical area, you can plant warm season crops throughout the yea...

Animals do the most amazing things. Read about them in this series by Janaki Lenin.

Turtle-headed seasnakes (Emydocephalus annulatus) in polluted waters are changing colour. Creatures of the Indo-Pacific coast, they usually have high contrast black and white bands or blotches encircling their bodies from head to tail.

While snorkeling in the shallow Nouma lagoon of Grande Terre Island, New Caledonia, more than 1,000 km east of Australia, evolutionary biologist Rick Shine of the University of Sydney and his family observed unusually black turtle-headed seasnakes. Back then, in 2003, males, the smaller of the sexes, seemed more prone to melanism (80%) than females (54%). These waters are polluted by runoff from nickel mining, the largest employer in this French protectorate. Besides the bl...

Oklahoma Police Chief Busted For Owning Racist Website and White Supremacist Record Label "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

A Texas television station, KXII, was investigating white supremacist hate in their area, when they came across some shocking information about the newly appointed Colbert Police Chief, Bart Alsbrook.

After the violence in Charlottesville, VA, the Southern Poverty Law Centers Hate Map became a popular resource for those curious about hate in America.

Reporter Rachel Knapp of KXII noticed a single hate group in the Texoma region and began investigating. The website  ISD Records  had filed paperwork in 2004 with the signature of Bart Alsbrook, according to Raw Story.

Bart Alsbrook, the third Chief hired so far this year,  was hired as Colberts interim Police Chief  just last week.

We called Alsbrook about that application last week. He denied he was the Bart Alsbrook behind isdrecords.com, KXII reported.

We searched for another Bart Alsbrook and couldnt find another person with that name in the United States.

Alsbrooks initial denial seemed extremely fishy considering the site was taken offline within hours of the reporters questioning.

When the news station contacted him about the site being taken offline, he gave a hilarious answer that is a clear fabrication and didnt explain anything.

When we called him back to ask him about it, Alsbrook claimed a group of skinheads stole his wallet and began using his name after a fight at a heavy metal concert in the 1990s, KXII...

Below, we then discussed what influences property prices in Australia.

We also discussed gentrification, and where to look for suburbs with the potential to gentrify, as well as so-termed property 'hotspots' (and why you might want to steer clear of them).

Finally, we spoke about the Queensland property cycle, which you can listen to by clicking the image below.

Zo benadrukte hij in juli 2002 in The Guardian dat it was an American president, Woodrow Wilson, who fathered the League of Nations in a wildly idealistic attempt to secure world peace. Daarom zag  mijn oude kennis Buruma zich uiteindelijk gedwongen de vraag te stellen: So what the hell went wrong? In n adem door beantwoordde hij die vra...

Michael Gannon (AMA President) and the Suppression of Vaccination Science in Australia "IndyWatch Feed Vic"

Recently the film Vaxxed; From Cover-up to Catastrophe has been touring Australia to sell out crowds as parents discover the fraudulent science that the Australian Medical Association (AMA) is using to claim that the link between vaccines and autism is discredited.

In addition, Michael Gannon, the AMA president, stated in the media (channel 10) on 21 May 2017 that:
the Health Department was spending a lot of time disproving the quack theories about the risks of vaccines.

This statement is untrue and it is disrespectful to parents because the Health Department is ignoring the skyrocketing autism in Australian children that correlates directly with the MMR vaccine and the expanding vaccination schedule  a schedule that is not designed by the Australian government.

In my No Jab No Play rally speech in WA on 28 May 2017 I call for Michael Gannon to step down from his position with the AMA (at 31.41 mins in the speech). This is because he is dismissing parents valid concerns about vaccines as quack theories. This is contrary to evidence-based medicine and his role in promoting public health in the community.

My PhD thesis is published on the University of Wollongong (UOW) website and it describes the undone science in government vaccination policies. This lack of hard evidence is allowing governments to claim that vaccines are safe and effective instead of using definitive proof.

When Australian Doctors speak up in support of the medical literature that shows the risks of vaccines they are threatened with de-registration from their professional body. Recently Dr. John Piesse publicly supported parents who do not want to vaccinate their children. He stated:

This is a matter of principle. You have got a public health policy which is causing harm.

This doctor is now under investigation by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Authority (AHPRA) instead of being allowed to debate the science. The AMA is dismissing the science as anti-vaccination instead of encouraging debate. How can public health be protected if the science showing the risk of vaccines is ignored and not included in the debate?

This is a crime against humanity if the AMA is...

Venezuela launches massive war games in response to Trump's threats "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Venezuela has begun massive wargames to show Donald Trump that it is capable of defending itself against US aggression. The drills will involve 200,000 troops and thousands of civilian volunteers, the military said. The number of participants in the exercise starting Saturday will exceed 900,000 people, Remigio Ceballos, head of the Venezuelan Strategic Operational Command, told the media. There'll be around 200,000 servicemen taking part, with the rest of those drilling being members of the Venezuelan civilian militia, Ceballos said. The National Bolivarian Militia was created by the late Venezuelan leader, Hugo Chavez, in 2009. The force, which allows every citizen to enlist, answers directly to the country's president.

68,000 doctors bribed by Big Pharma with $47 million to prescribe dangerous painkiller drugs, analysis finds "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

As America grapples with alleviating the opioid addiction crisis that killed more than 30,000 people in the country in 2015, the debate rages on over the best way to tackle the issue. One aspect many people can agree on, however, is the fact that doctors are overprescribing these dangerous drugs, spurring addictions that can eventually send patients to the street to get their next high once their prescription runs out.

Why are so many doctors prescribing these pills despite the dangers? The answer is simple: money. A study out of the Boston Medical Centers Grayken Center for Addiction Medicine that was published in the American Journal of Public Health revealed that one out of every 12 American doctors has received at least one payment from an opioid pharmaceutical company. It was the first national, wide-scale study that focused specifically on opioid-related industry payments.

They reached their conclusions after analyzing the database for the Open Payments program from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. In the U.S., drug companies are required to report every payment they make to doctors under the Physician Payment Sunshine Act. The researchers honed in on opioid-related payments that were made from August 2013 to December 2015. These included not only direct payments but also meals, consulting fees, travel reimbursement, and speaking fees.

More than 375,000 non-research payments related to opioids were shelled out to 68,177 doctors during the period studied, to the tune of $46,158,388. The average payment might have been just $15, but the top one percent of physicians 681 doctors in total received more than $38 million combined. Food and drink payments were the most common type of reimbursement, accounting for 94 percent of all payments, but speaking fees accounted for the most money overall.

Payments influence prescribing habits regardless of amount

Even when payments are small, past research has shown that drug company payments lead to increased prescriptions from doctors. One study last year found that doctors who accepted just one meal that was sponsored by a pharmaceutical company were significantly more likely to prescribe name-brand drugs to patients afterward.

The researchers of the current study believe that inappropriate prescriptions are playing a big role in the nations opioid-related deaths, and they suggest that policy makers place a cap on opioid-associated payments given to doctors by drug companies. They also believe that mandatory prescriber education might be needed to counteract the influence Big Pharma has on prescribing beha...

Witness the Power of Remaining SilentWoman Gets $30K After Cops Ignore the Constitution "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Source: The Free Thought Project By: Matt Agorist

Trenton, NJ Rebecca Musarra was pulled over by two New Jersey state troopers after they suspected her of speeding in 2015. However, because the troopers were ignorant of the Constitution, and Musarras right to remain silent, the traffic stop took a turn for the worse and now the taxpayers are being held liable.

The troopers careless disregard for the law was subsequently captured on dashcam showing them arrest this woman for the sole act of practicing her constitutional right to remain silent.

Now, according to court records, Musarra has been awarded $30,000 in a settlement with the state.

According to NJ.com,

Musarra, a Philadelphia attorney, put her right to remain silent to the test after she was pulled over for allegedly speeding on Route 519 in Warren County and ended up in a holding cell for it.

In a recent interview, Musarra said she hoped the case, which drew national attention after it became public, would become a civil liberties lesson for police and members of the public.

Hopefully this gives average citizens a little more courage to assert their rights, she said.

What a relief to experience the center of Well Being deep within me, and then to realize there wasnt, isnt and, never will be any Well Being here in this Mirror separation Matrix Karmic suffering cellular paradigm. I can let go of trying to make anything here better, and better than this, I dont have to, ever look outside myself for Love, Well Being, nurturing, or anything of any real value ever again.

Everything I have, ever projected comes from unconscious fear co-creating more compulsive Karmic harm, and this is the same for everyone else here in this physical-habit Karma-addicted Stockholm Syndrome sick-loyal harm-filled Paradigm. I can now expect to accept a continual flow of disappointments, without a need to fix anything, any more than I will continue to look outside, for what appears to only come from Immortal Love Absolute unborn infinite Well Being Central right deep down deep inside where, nothing harmful has, even been Karmic-borne yet.

Lets hope everything changes when everything Ascension-paradigm changes, because I think we, all are tired of the way someone is aways wrong here, just so another can pretend to be right. Since Well Being inside is the total lack of Mortal motives, then that pretty much leaves Immortal Love up to total surrender to Sweet Beloved, deep inside absolute unborn infinity, it happily seems to awe-humbling mean to sweet me-less-mumbling relief, from any more need to compulsively ID Karmic unconscious-better judge in Mirror Harm Matrix, all my, own personal me/me/me exclusive-motive ID-mios.

When I ask a question to control the one I fear, and that Mortal Patsy imagines an answer can come to play emotional hostage, its better to assume no one has the answer for anyone else, that still hasnt directly experienced Well Being Central deeper inside their, own need to stop looking outside themselves for any real Immortal Love answer. Can I see everything that upsets me with tranquility, and acceptance, without letting Well Being Envy get the best of me? Is posting outside myself another sign, I still need to stop looking outside too, or is it OK to musically inquire tirelessly, as if I am feeling what others continually feel, without anyone realizing how much I like to play, all our parts on this World-stage?

Newsbud Exclusive- Agents of Terror on Government Payroll- Part I: Anwar Al-Awlaki. "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

MSM: 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + more 2s = 0

From quasi investigative reports to legitimate leaks, whistleblowers and numerous court documents, several key 9/11 operatives have been identified and confirmed as assets and or informants of the United States government. All details of these operatives positions, functions and employment records have been sealed and protected as beyond and above top secret classified. Further, despite the established facts and undeniable trail of evidentiary crumbs, the mainstream and pseudo-alternative tentacles of the establishment continue to downplay or plainly disregard these cases, and parrot the long ago debunked official narrative. According to them the sum of two plus two plus more twos equals well, a solid zero.

Whether it is Anwar al-Awlaki, a man who was born and highly educated in the United States, who fought on our side against our competitors interests, who was a regular figure at the Pentagon and the brass dinner companion, who was on the FBIs payroll and highly valued by the US Congress; or Ali Mohameds employment with the United States Armys Green Barret and the CIA, and his connections with the FBI; or the landlord of two 9/11 hijackers in San Diego, who happened to be a highly valued long-term FBI informant, we find ourselves staring at black holes of incomplete profiles and missing crucial information. In each of these cases we are dealing with a government engaged in an extraordinary level of secrecy, protection and cover-up. And with every single case we are faced with the crucial why question.

While each case, individually, on its own, paints an extremely troubling picture with serious implications, we must delve into the cases as a whole in order to see the larger theme and an even more telling story. Putting these established cases together, documented in one place, is a sound starting point towards needed answers- the truth; on 9/11.

MEDIA RELEASE

Leaked Government documents have revealed that Immigration Minister Peter Dutton is planning to throw up to a hundred refugees and people seeking asylum and living in the community out onto the street in a move designed to force them back to danger.

The documents, revealed overnight, show that starting Monday the Department of Immigration and Border Protection will issue dozens of refugees and people seeking asylum who were transferred to Australia from offshore detention for medical reasons with a final departure Bridging E Visa. The visa will give them three weeks to find their own accommodation while at the same time cutting their entire financial support and directing them to make arrangements to leave Australia.

Hugh de Kretser, Executive Director at the Human Rights Law Centre, said:

This is a shocking act of cruelty. We are talking about people who have been in Australia, some for several years. They have endured unimaginable suffering but are finally starting to rebuild their lives in freedom and safety in our communities. Then now, out of the blue, Dutton is trying to force them back to danger by making them destitute.

The policy comes more than a year after the successful Let Them Stay campaign that prevented Minister Duttons first attempt at deporting this same group - including babies born in Australia - back to Nauru and Manus Island.

We're talking about people who have been part of our communities for years. The sensible and compassionate thing to do is to let them stay. Instead, Dutton is trying to make them destitute and coerce them back to harm.

Bill Ayers and George Soros are teammates that have one thing in common. They want people like you to die.

Some, and I mean only some Americans are aware of the George Soros groups who are pushing this country towards extreme violence that will manipulate America into a civil war that will subsequently be crushed and a new globalist, dictataorial regime will be installed. The goal of Soros and his globalist colleagues is to eliminate the last real bastion of representative government and install a brutal, dictatorial global socialist government where individual liberties are eliminated.

As was pointed out in Part One, the Soros-led movement against America is merely a continuation of the radical communist subversive groups  from the 1960s from which the most prominent group was the Weathermen Underground.

What Do These Subversive Want?

The short answer to the question of what do they want, what is their final objective, can be answered very succinctly. They want you are your type dead. They plan to murder you and people like you and have stated so in the past.

In Part One of this series, I detailed the history of treasonous subversive groups who are alll dedicated to the destruction of the United States. These groups have been led by communist agitators and murderers such as Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. As I also pointed out in Part One, Ayers, the former head of the Weathermen Underground, gave Obama his start in politics.

Brit ex-spook behind Trump dossier ordered to give deposition in BuzzFeed lawsuit "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Man behind Trump dossier meets with Senate investigators The former British spy who put together an unverified dossier of explosive allegations about President Trump during last year's campaign has been ordered to give a deposition in a multi-million-dollar libel case brought against a media outlet that published the document. Former MI-6 British Intelligence Officer Christopher Steele is fighting the decision by U.S. District Court Judge Ursula Ungaro, of the Southern District of Florida that he must answer questions in the suit against BuzzFeed. A lawyer directly involved in the case said the issue will likely be argued before the British courts where a similar libel case is being heard. Steele's London-based company, Orbis Business Intelligence, authored the 35-page dossier while working for American-based Fusion GPS and its founder Glenn Simpson. The document, which was crafted as opposition research for unknown political rivals of Trump, contained salacious charges involving Trump and Russian prostitutes, but none of the claims have been corroborated and most media outlets steered clear of the dossier. In January, BuzzFeed set off an international firestorm when it chose to publish the entire dossier, which also included seamy allegations involving Russian technology guru Aleksej Gubarev and his companies, XBT Holdings and Webzilla.

Get Out! A message for the atheist movement "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

A couple have a major disagreement. A metaphorical story.

Spouse #1: I want a divorce.

Spouse #2: But no! You cant! Marriage is so, so important, and we have to stick together no matter what!

S#1: Im a feminist, and you put a pic of Milo Yiannopoulis with a word ballon saying Feminism is Cancer as the background on your cell phone.

S#2: You can change! Or you can learn to tolerate my little quirks. I have to be me, you know.

S#1: You marched in a white nationalist parade!

S#2: Oh, you and your trivial, petty concerns. Our bond is more important. We have to stick together, for the sake of the marriage. We still have things in common: you think Black Lives Matter, but we can still agree that cops have really tough jobs. Why are you tearing us apart?

I ask, whos side do you take here? Some of you will say that both sides are talking past each other, and that is correct. Some might then follow through and declare that therefore Both Sides Are Wrong, glossing over the misogyny and racism that one side takes for granted.

But some of us say instead, Oh no, Spouse #1! Get out! #2 is an asshole with bad ideas! It seems to me the only rational response: thats a marriage that needs to end.

But a lot of atheists disagree. At least, thats what I have to conclude from the last 6 years of abusive behavior by atheists against atheists, who then try to silence disagreement by declaring the inviolable importance of sticking together in the name of the precious Atheist Movement.

In 2016, David Smalley asked, Whats killing the atheist movement?. His answer: public disagreement about social justice. Reading between the lines, it was clear that it was all the fault of people who criticized other people within the movement. Were supposed to be quiet, show a unified front, and call each other up on the phone before we dare to disagree publicly. He was completely oblivious to the fact that silence favors the status quo, and that he was taking a side when he demands obedience to the nebulous leadership of the atheist movement.

I slammed him on it. I had a...

Russian Federation SITREP 24 August 2017 "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

THE NEW NWO AND RUSSIA. This is very much worth reading. The authors argue that in the coming (well, already here) rivalry between the American maritime power and the Chinese land power, Russia is the swing player that can hand victory to one or the other: "So logic says that the US should be very nice to Russia and seek to establish some kind of military alliance". Well, logic's voice isn't loud enough for the US Congress to hear. Also interesting is their discussion of Germany's choices and the important role Saudi Arabia could play if it changes protectors again. (I too wondered this two years ago.) PUTIN'S POPULARITY. Some Western academics asked "But is his popularity real, or are respondents lying to pollsters?" and concluded "Putin's approval ratings largely reflect the attitudes of Russian citizens." I didn't bother to read their paper because I know - as does any serious observer - the answer already. Of course he's popular: he is the leader of a team which has achieved a tremendous turnaround in Russia's situation. Since 2000 all indicators are up. I wish we could say the same in our part of the world. RUSSIA INC. GDP grew 2.5% year-on-year in the second quarter; this is the highest growth since 2013. PMI is up to 52.7. Inflation is the lowest in five years.

Helifleet (US Navy Contract) S.N.I.A.S SA330J Puma Helicopter N366EV Pops into Gladstone Airport "IndyWatch Feed Qld"

An interesting visitor into Gladstone Airport with American-registered Aerospatiale SA330F Puma helicopter N366EV calling in for a very short time on Saturday 26 August.

The chopper comes up as being owned by Helifleet (USA) but appears to be contracted to the United States Navy (US Navy) / United States Naval Aviation.  Specifically a S.N.I.A.S SA330J Puma helicopter, N366EV has been seen operating in recent time from the USNS Amelia Earhart (T-AKE-6 ) - a Lewis and Clark-class dry cargo ship.

N366EV was on the ground for a very short time and was heard to be using the radio callsign of "Puma 3".

Sincere thanks to local plane spotter Michael F for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!

From Cairns, VH-VVI then flew into Longreach Airport before it later returned to Brisbane.

Meanwhile, there has been another bizjet and some nice light General Aviation (GA) visitors to Longreach Airport over the course of this last week.

Last Saturday 19 August, Gulf Coast Aviation Cessna 510 Citation Mustang bizjet VH-KXM popped into Longreach Airport once again, calling in from Bankstown and departing to Vanrook Station near Normanton.

Also last Saturday 19 August, Tasfast Air Freight / Vortex Air Piper PA-31-350 VH-TWU also passed through Longreach Airport, arriving from Cairns and later departing to Charleville.  It eventually continued to its Melbourne (Moorabbin) base.  It appears that VH-TWU has been completing flights between Townsville and Palm Island over recent weeks.

Lying about Citizenship: Australian Politicians before the High Court "IndyWatch Feed Qld"

It was nothing short of fabulous.  Before the public, the political lie is deemed an imperative, instinctively cultured to repel anything that might appear, let alone resemble, truth.  Never, whatever you do in political garb, reveal the game, convey the reality, even if power is only held on trust.  Those idiots (the voters, that is) wont know.

Before the judicial bench, however, the same figures find themselves on the horns of a dilemma.  Pull the wig over those judicial eyes or risk perjuring yourself?  With that in mind, the story about how the Nationals Senator Matt Canavan became an Italian citizen, making him ineligible as a sitting member of Parliament according to the Australian Constitution, was instructive.

Even then, cracks started to appear in the fabricated story.  Discussions about his citizenship and maternal suggestions in that direction, were being had around the family table prior to the sneaky visit to the Italian consulate in Brisbane.

The directions hearing in the High Court saw a change of heart. Mum was left out of it.  Legal counsel representing Senator Canavan argued that he had been an Italian citizen since 1983 (not 2006, as Canavan had claimed, courtesy of his mothers intervention), due to a change in Italian law. This rendered Canavan a citizen by descent, rather than birth.

This could only have one meaning, claimed legal counsel representing Canavan: section 44 of the Australian constitution would not apply.  To read the section any other way, claimed David Bennett, QC, would result in a ridiculous interpretation, one that would also disqualify up to half the population from sitting in Parliament. A grim, and truly undemocratic prospect indeed.

Left with the mountainous task of defending Roberts, a post-truth peddler who insists that the Murdoch empire offers papers of unimpeachable balance, Senior Counsel Robert Newlinds was knotted and bound.  He duly submitted to Chief Justice Susan Kiefel that the British authorities were the ones who had been con...

Babylonian Tablet May Contain Oldest Evidence of Trigonometry "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

A reexamination of a Babylonian tablet has found what may be the first appearance of trigonometry:

Consisting of four columns and 15 rows of numbers inscribed in cuneiform, the famous P322 tablet was discovered in the early 1900s in what is now southern Iraq by archaeologist, antiquities dealer, and diplomat Edgar Banks, the inspiration for the fictional character Indiana Jones.

Now stored at Columbia University, the tablet first garnered attention in the 1940s, when historians recognized that its cuneiform inscriptions contain a series of numbers echoing the Pythagorean theorem, which explains the relationship of the lengths of the sides of a right triangle. (The theorem: The square of the hypotenuse equals the sum of the square of the other two sides.) But why ancient scribes generated and sorted these numbers in the first place has been debated for decades.

Mathematician Daniel Mansfield of the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney was developing a course for high school math teachers in Australia when he came across an image of P322. Intrigued, he teamed up with UNSW mathematician Norman Wildberger to study it. "It took me 2 years of looking at this [tablet] and saying 'I'm sure it's trig, I'm sure it's trig, but how?'" Mansfield says. The familiar sines, cosines, and angles used by Greek astronomers and modern-day high schoolers were completely missing. Instead, each entry includes information on two sides of a right triangle: the ratio of the short side to the long side and the ratio of the short side to the diagonal, or hypotenuse.

Mansfield realized that the information he needed was in missing pieces of P322 that had been reconstructed by other researchers. "Those two ratios from the reconstruction really made P322 into a clean and easy-to-use trigonometric table," he says. He and Wildberger concluded that the Babylonians expressed trigonometry in terms of exact ratios of the lengths of the sides of right triangles [open, DOI: 10.1016/j.hm.2017.08.001] [DX], rather than by angles, using their base 60 form of mathematics, they report today in Historia Mathematica. "This is a whole different way of looking at trigonometry," Mansfield says. "We prefer sines and cosines ... but we have to really get outside our own culture to see from their perspective to be able to understand it."

Iranians up in arms as Apple removes top apps "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

AFP

AFP/File | This file picture taken on July 09, 2017 shows employees at an e-commerce sites offices in the Iranian capital Tehran
TEHRAN (AFP)  Iranians have been joined by a minister in protest after Apple removed popular apps from its store, which the American company says has been done to comply with US sanctions.Today, respecting consumers rights is a basic principle which Apple has not followed, Information and Communication Technology Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi tweeted, promising to legally pursue the case.

IT should be used for making human life better and comfortable not a tool for discrimination between countries, he wrote.

The hashtag #StopRemovingIranianApps has been trending on Iranian social media in the past few days, after Apple removed at least 10 of the countrys most popular apps from its online store.

Those now missing include Amazon-style shopping apps Digikala and Bamilo, ride-hailing apps Snapp and Tap30, discount store Takhfifan and a brunch delivery service called Delion.

We are unable to include your app on the App Store, a message sent to some of those companies reportedly said.

Under the US sanctions regulations, the App Store cannot host, distribute, or do business with apps or developers connected to certain US embargoed countries.

The US lifted some sanctions on Iran, particularly in the aviation sector, under a 2015 nuclear deal that saw Tehran limit its atomic programme.

But American individuals and companies are still barred from doing any business with Iranians because of much older and non-nuclear related sanctions on the Islamic republic.

There are removed apps which did not have financial transactions, and due to sanctions, some of them were registered in countries other than Iran too, the minister, Azari Jahromi, said on Twitter.

Some Iranian apps in the same category of the removed ones are still available on the app store.

Irans youthful and well-connected population own some 40 million smart phones, six million of them iPhones, the government-owned Iran Daily newspaper reported.

Apple has not provided any clear answers to our messages, the daily on Saturday quoted Mehdi Taghizadeh, vice chairman at Delion, as saying.

More than 4,500 Iranian netizens have signed an online petition urging Apple chief executive Tim Cook to recognise our rights as Apple custom...

Qatar Says Five Suspects in News Agency Hacking Detained in Turkey "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

DOHA Qatars attorney general said Turkey has detained five suspects in connection with the hacking of Qatars state news agency in May.

The hacking helped precipitate the diplomatic rift that has since opened up between Qatar and some of its powerful Arab neighbors.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates severed ties with Qatar in June over comments briefly posted on the Qatar News Agency attributed to its ruler in which he allegedly praised their arch-foe Iran.

Qatar said Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani did not make the statements and that hackers had posted a false story on QNA.

In comments published by QNA on Saturday, Qatars Attorney General Ali Bin Fetais al-Marri said the suspects were being interrogated, without specifying their nationalities or any other details.

Our friends in Turkey answered us a short time ago. Five people were detained and they are being investigated. Qatari prosecutors are working with Turkish authorities to follow this case, he was quoted as saying by Qatari media.

Marri has said Qatar has evidence that the hack was linked to countries that have severed ties with Doha for allegedly supporting Islamist militant groups and advancing the agenda of their arch-rival Iran in the region charges Doha denies.

The dispute has defied mediation attempts by the United States and Kuwait.

US Army Beech C-12J Huron (Beech 1900C-1) 86-00082 & Beech C-12F Huron (B200C) 84-00155 at Rockhampton Airport "IndyWatch Feed Qld"

As we mentioned on our Facebook page earlier in the week, a pair of small United States Army (US Army) turboprop aircraft were noted arriving into Rockhampton Airport from Cairns and Darwin.

They were identified as Beech C-12J Huron (Beech 1990C-1) 86-00082 "Cats 83" and Beech C-12U-3 Huron (B200C) 84-00155 "Cats 72" and have since spent their time parked on the Northern end of the Rockhampton Airport apron.

Information suggested that they were due to return to Cairns during the week but as shown, they remain at Rockhampton Airport and were moved to the Southern end of the parking apron on Saturday 26 August.

Of interest, both aircraft are flown by the 6th Battalion of the 52nd Aviation Regiment (6/52nd AVN) of the US Army.  It appears that they also spent some time flying with the United States Air Force (USAF).

Volga-Dnepr Antonov AN-124 RA-82077 Back at Rockhampton Airport This Time with Four RSAF Boeing AH-64D Apache Helicopters "IndyWatch Feed Qld"

It was another great day for aircraft enthusiasts and many other curious onlookers as again before dawn on Friday 25 August, Volga-Dnepr Antonov AN-124-100 RA-82077 touched down at Rockhampton Airport, again flying in directly from from Paya Lebar Air Base in Singapore but as VDA4964.  It again spent the day parked on Gate 6 at the Southern end of the Rockhampton Airport apron and soon after arriving, it commenced unloading its cargo.

The massive Antonov is shown with its front landing gear raised and the aircraft placed into its unique 'kneeling' position to allow the unloading of its cargo.

On this flight, four of Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Boeing AH-64D helicopters - three believed to be wearing serials '063', '065' and '058' - were unloaded.  They, like the two RSAF Boeing CH-47SD Chinook helicopters delivered earlier in the week, are expected to be re-assembled and test flown ahead of their participation in the Singapore Armed Force's Exercise Wallaby 2017 which is expected to kick-off in the next week.

The Weekend Quiz August 26-27, 2017 answers and discussion "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Here are the answers with discussion for this Weekends Quiz. The information provided should help you work out why you missed a question or three! If you havent already done the Quiz from yesterday then have a go at it before you read the answers. I hope this helps you develop an understanding of modern monetary theory (MMT) and its application to macroeconomic thinking. Comments as usual welcome, especially if I have made an error.

Question 1:

If the external sector overall is in deficit, it is still possible for the private domestic sector and government sector to run surpluses as long as GDP growth is fast enough (the technical condition is that the rate of GDP growth has to be faster than the real interest rate).

The answer is False.

Once again it is a test of ones basic understanding of the sectoral balances that can be derived from the National Accounts. Some people write to me in an incredulous way about the balances.

The least polite ones accuse me of making all this stuff about balances up. They say that there are no such constraints. They then rehearse an elaborate discussion (read: rave) about how all official national statistics office data is fraudulent constructed by governments aiming to control us with information censorship. I sometimes wonder why people waste their time with such personalised attacks on me when they must have spent 20 or more minutes typing all the stuff they add into the invective. Time is too short.

The more polite(but equally erroneous) enquiries sometimes argue that the national accounts data leaves things out which negate the balances approach. Yes, the national accounting system leaves lots of things out which are important indicators of well-being and activity (such as, unpaid home care and child-rearing services typically supplied productively by females). That is clear but doesnt alter the veracity of the sectoral balances approach.

While I have lots of opinions it is crucial to understand that the sectoral balances derivation (which I repeat below) is not one of those opinions it is an artefact of accounting rules and some algebra (which maintains all equalities no matter how much transformation of the original relationship eventuates).

How I interpret those balances can lead us into opinion which has to be reinforced with empirical support. But the framework itself is just an accounting structure albeit a very useful one.

The answer is false because if the external sector overall is in deficit, then it is impossible for both the private domestic sector and government sector to run surpluses. One of those two has to also be in deficit to satisfy th...

15 Hidden Signs You Had a Toxic Parent Growing Up "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

While most parents do their best to provide the best lives for their children that they can, they sometimes do not realize they are doing more harm than good. Yes, even the best parents can be toxic if they are going it in the wrong way.

Whether your parent or parents were aware of their toxicity doesnt really matter since things still came out the same. There are actually a lot of things that can and will cause a child to grow up damaged. Below you will find a list of the most common, but least known signs that a parent is toxic.

1. They make you feel responsible for their unhappiness.

If this person goes on and on about how happy they would be if you were not in the picture they are not only making you feel bad, but also putting unhealthy expectations on you. They are acting as if you need to make up for having been born in the first place, but that is not really your fault now is it? No child should ever be made to feel as if they are the reason for their parents unhappiness. We are responsible for our own happiness and no one elses.

2. They give you the silent treatment.

While it is hard to talk when you are mad without saying the wrong thing, shutting out your children will only make the situation worse. Giving them the silent treatment is immature and can hurt your relationship with them big time. In situations like this, the parent should excuse his or herself to cool down, ignoring your child is never the answer.

3. They do not set healthy boundaries.

There are two different scenarios in which this type of situation can pan out:

1. The parent sets too many boundaries, and smothers their children in-turn not allowing the child to have a healthy childhood. While you should keep a close eye on your children these parents go overboard with it. They override all boundaries and when it comes to personal space their children have none.

or

2. They do not set any boundaries and allow their children to run the house. I have seen this in too many different situations! Your child should never have control over you, and if you are allowing your child to control you, you are setting them up for failure later on in life.

4. They do not provide you with security.

They make you take care of yourself at too young of an age. While they may believe this is helping you prepare for life, it is only making you feel as if you have no one to turn to. Sure, tough love is necessary sometimes, but not all the....

The campaign is currently organising a series of summits in  Queensland regional centres, Brisbane and Sydney  to plan the next steps in the campaign.  The focus so far has been on direct action.
This has successfully prevented Adani from securing financial support from the Big Four Banks.

as Adani continues to have the support of both the Coalition and Labor,  to defeat Adani and put an end to all new coalmines in Australia,  mass demonstrations will be needed along with  the lobbyingdirect action and legal tactics.

Federal Group stitches up a deal? "IndyWatch Feed Tas"

The Joint Select Committee inquiry into Future Gaming Markets recently received a joint proposal from the Tasmanian Hospitality Association and the Federal Group and heard evidence from the two parties.

The proposal highlights most of the economic and financial issues at stake for the inquiry. The following note was submitted to assist the Committee in its important deliberations.

The proposal will perpetuate existing bad public policy. Benefits will accrue to the few existing participants in proportion to the benefits they have already received over the last 20 years. As a way of assisting businesses to grow it is poorly targeted. Allocating perpetual licenses to existing venues for nil consideration will not only give a windfall gain to a privileged few with unsubstantiated  benefits for the wider community, but will tie the hand of future governments if ever they feel a need to make changes.

The plot revolves around the secret training base on Swan Island, close to Queenscliff, and the connection between soldiers training at the base, the local police and CIU, and an investigation into the death of a ten-year-old boy.

Though the existence of a training base on Swan Island was denied for years by successive federal governments, Brian Toohey and Bill Pinwell, in their book Oyster: the story of the Australian Secret Intelligence Service offer some tantalising details.

(On Swan Island) the eager young army officers and NCOs learnt the dark arts of demolition, disguise, deception, sabotage, secret communication, and assassination In one exercise on Swan Island the incorrect line of fire was set on a Chinese medium machine gun so that tracer bullets shot over the sandhills into the rigging of fishing boats in Port Phillip Bay. Fortunately for ASIS the only complaint made to the media was about the noise

Theres a special kind of snail that lives in the seagrass of Swan Bay. Because the bay is so shallow, its an important fish nursery and the baby fish eat the snails. Marine scientists didnt know why the snail numbers were decreasing. They did a study and found that the lead in the bullets has been turning all the...

"Mu" "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

"Mu"

"A strange game. The only winning move is not to play."
- Joshua, "War Games"

"There is a word, a concept, in Zen Buddhism that doesn't quite translate perfectly into the English language: Mu. Mu is the response given by a Zen monk to a question that cannot be meaningfully answered. It suggest that the question's premises are not real, that there is a state of emptiness that lies beyond yes and no, that the asker should unask the question - indeed, that anyone who would ask such a question in the first place might well to question his entire perspective on life.

Though the word was never uttered in the 1984's seminal teen-computer-hacker-political-thriller "War Games", the idea lies at the heart of the conflict that fuels the movie: a new Pentagon supercomputer that controls the nation's nuclear codes is caught up in a relentless war-game simulation trying to answer the question, "How...

FixedIt: domestic violence is not romantic "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

That we expect this kind of tripe from The Mirror does not make it ok.

On average, two women every week are murdered in domestic violence homicides in England and Wales. Domestic violence will affect 1 in 4 women in the UK at some point in their life. It is a deadly serious and widespread problem. The media has a significant role to play in changing public attitude to mens violence against women and children.

Headlines like this are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Intimate partner violence has nothing to do with romance or rejection. Its a choice made by the perpetrator based on their need for power and control, and the underlying belief that anything they do to maintain control over a woman they see as a possession is justified and excused by her actions.

When journalists make implicit excuses for violent men by blaming victims they are confirming those beliefs. They are colluding with violent men in excusing their violence and blaming their victims.

Andrei Pavel is not a spurned lover, hes a violent man who chose to stalk and assault his ex-girlfriend. He was convicted of assault and ordered to stay away from his victim for 12 months.

He didnt punch her because she rejected him, he punched her because he decided he had the right to assault a woman who refused to do what he wanted her to do.

Nothing a victim does is the cause of violence committed against them, there is only one thing that causes violence and that is the choice to do it.

Reporting this any other way is not journalism, its a dangerous deception.

FixedIt is an ongoing project to push back against the medias constant erasure of violent men and blaming of innocent victims. If you would like to help fund it even $5 a month makes a big difference please consider becoming a Patron

One Map With All the Countries the US Has Invaded Will Make You Question Everything "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

(ANTIMEDIA)   For those who have ever wanted a clearer picture of the true reach of the United States military both historically and currently but shied away due to the sheer volume of research required to find an answer, a crew at the Independent just made things a whole lot simpler.

Using data compiled by a Geography and Native Studies professor from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, the indy100 team created an interactive map of U.S. military incursions outside its own borders from Argentina in 1890 to Syria in 2014.

To avoid confusion, indy100 laid out its prerequisites for what constitutes an invasion:

Deployment of the military to evacuate American citizens, covert military actions by US intelligence, providing military support to an internal opposition group, providing military support in one side of a conflict, use of the army in drug enforcement actions.

But indy100 didnt stop there. To put all that history into context, using data from the Department of Defense (DOD), the team also put together a map to display all the countries in which nearly 200,000 active members of the U.S. military are now stationed.

For more details, click on the country:

The three countries with the biggest U.S. presence, according to DOD numbers, are Japan at 39,623, Germany at 34,399 and South Korea at 23,297.

The publication of the maps comes just after President Donald Trump announced the military would not be pulling out of its 16-year engagement in Afghanistan a reversal of his previous stance and that the U.S. would seek stronger ties with India to combat terrorism in South and Central Asia.

Trump chastises former spymaster Clapper for lying to Congress "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

US President Donald Trump has fired back at former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, bringing up his testimony before Congress, after Clapper told CNN that Trump was unfit to be president and should resign. "James Clapper, who famously got caught lying to Congress, is now an authority on Donald Trump. Will he show you his beautiful letter to me?" the president tweeted Thursday morning. It was not immediately clear which letter he was referring to. The "lying to Congress" part was apparently a reference to the 2013 Congressional hearing, where Senator Ron Wyden (D-Oregon) asked Clapper if the National Security Agency collected data on millions of Americans. "No, sir ... not wittingly," Clapper answered. Soon thereafter, Edward Snowden's revelations showed that the NSA did, in fact, collect data on millions of Americans.

The Next Doctor You Consult Could Be a Robot: Healthcare Meets AI and the Blockchain "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

The Next Doctor You Consult Could Be a Robot

Startup company doc.ai has been working with university researchers to create a platform on the blockchain where patients can discuss their medical data with an advanced artificial intelligence doctor.

On August 24, doc.ai announced that their advanced natural language processing technology platform, based on the blockchain, would timestamp datasets and decentralize artificial intelligence. The startup stated that the platform was envisioned and built by researchers from Stanford and Cambridge Universities.

The objective of the company is to help healthcare companies improve patient care and  experience through an advanced natural dialogue system which will be able to generate insights from combined medical data.

According to the World Health Organization, there is a shortage of seven million healthcare professionals globally, and that number is on the rise. There is increasing pressure on doctors who are faced with meeting the challenging needs of the population and keeping up with the latest developments in healthcare and medicine. Furthermore, the training of healthcare professionals takes years of education and experience. With the help of AI, doc.ai aims to address such challenges while improving the patient care and providing a better healthcare experience.

"We are making it possible for lab tests to converse directly with patients by leveraging advanced artificial intelligence, medical data forensics, and the decentralized blockchain. We envision extensive possibilities for the use of this technology by doctors, patients, and medical institutions," Walter De Brouwer, founder and chief executive officer of doc.ai, said in a statement.

Deloitte Life Sciences and Healthcare is working with doc.ai to test the companys Robo-hematology solution, which was developed recently at the Deloitte University in Dallas, Texas.

"doc.ai's AI-based doctors provide answers to health questions using an AI-powered platform. Platforms like these open new possibilities for patients and medical organizations by providing more personalized, intelligent healthcare. We are excited to collaborate with doc.ai and to be at the forefront of this technology, said Rajeev Ronanki, Principal of Life Sciences and Health Care at Deloitte Consulting LLP.

The platform operates as a Software as a Service (SaaS), providing service to medical co...

Trump and Tillerson: Bomb the Taliban to the negotiating table "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Following the lengthy discussions in Camp David which I discussed in my previous article, US President Trump and Secretary of State Tillerson published on Monday separate statements about the war in Afghanistan. The focus of attention, understandably enough, has been on President Trump's statement, though it is Secretary of State Tillerson's statement and his subsequent answers to the media which is actually more interesting. Firstly, there is a clear difference between Trump and Tillerson. Though after lengthy discussions a consensus has clearly been reached, there is no disguising the difference in their views both about the course of the war and about the role of the Taliban in a future Afghanistan.

Lectionary: 121

Reading 1  IS 22:19-23

Thus says the LORD to Shebna, master of the palace:
I will thrust you from your office
and pull you down from your station.
On that day I will summon my servant
Eliakim, son of Hilkiah;
I will clothe him with your robe,
and gird him with your sash,
and give over to him your authority.
He shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
and to the house of Judah.
I will place the key of the House of David on Eliakims shoulder;
when he opens, no one shall shut
when he shuts, no one shall open.
I will fix him like a peg in a sure spot,
to be a place of honor for his family.

Responsorial Psalm  PS 138:1-2, 2-3, 6, 8

R. (8bc) Lord, your love is eternal; do not forsake the work of your hands.
I will give thanks to you, O LORD, with all my heart,
for you have heard the words of my mouth;
in the presence of the angels I will sing your praise;
I will worship at your holy temple.
R. Lord, your love is eternal; do not forsake the work of your hands.
I will give thanks to your name,
because of your kindness and your truth:
When I called, you answered me;
you built up strength within me.
R. Lord, your love is eternal; do not forsake the work of your hands.
The LORD is exalted, yet the lowly he sees,
and the proud he knows from afar.
Your kindness, O LORD, endures forever;
forsake not the work of your hands.

How 'trauma bonding' leads people to stay in abusive relationships "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Those who have never been in an abusive relationship struggle to understand how people remain in one for so long. If somebody was mistreating you, "why did you stick around?" they ask. For survivors, this can be a really tough question to answer. The lucky ones escape, and stumble upon articles or books that give them the terms to be able to understand what happened to them, and thus describe their experience. Other times, though, this doesn't happen, and people might not even be aware they were in a relationship that could be classed as "abusive." This is because we are conditioned to believe abuse is always physical. On TV and in films, we see characters who are obviously evil. They are violent to their partners, shout at them aggressively, or even murder them in a fit of rage. While this does happen, it's not a true representation of the abuse many others experience. According to therapist Shannon Thomas, author of "Healing from Hidden Abuse," psychological abuse is insidious, and it occurs a over time like an IV drip of poison entering your veins.

Fluoride in drinking water is not the answer to tooth decay "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Three health professionals will add their weight to a move to keep fluoride out of Waipas drinking water.

Dentists Dr Lawrie Brett, Dr John Jukes and Te Awamutu doctor Janion Heywood will present to a public forum hosted by Fluoride Free NZ in Te Awamutu on Saturday.

Backed by medical facts, they will discuss their own observations why Waipas drinking water shouldnt be fluoridated.

After 40 years of working in an oral practice, Brett an active advocate for fluoride-free drinking water, remains unconvinced of any benefits of intervention.

Not only was water fluoridation not reducing tooth decay, but that it also carried general health risks, said Brett

In 2014 Local Government New Zealand urged the Government to amend the appropriate legislation so that the addition of fluoride to drinking water supplies is a decision made by the Director General of Health rather than a council.

The Health Amendment Bill is progressing through parliament and is at the second reading stage.

Once passed it will transfer the decision making process regarding fluoridation to the district health boards.

Any thoughts of DHBs having the only say without public consultation is hard to swallow for groups opposing fluoridation.

Fluoride Free NZ spokesman Kane Titchener recently presented evidence to the Waipa District Council outlining the proposed process was fundamentally flawed.

There would be a 10-person board making the decisions and it would include four government appointees and six members elected from the community, he said

Their level of understanding of fluoridation would be no greater than local councillors making the decisions.

Council continues to ignore the call to consult with the community on the issue.

Under DHB control, fluoridation wont be stopped and soon it will be added to areas like Waipa who have never seen it before.

Titchener is disappointed with the council.

They failed to understand they have not given their community an opportunity learn more about fluoridation and allow consultation.

The talk will be held from 4-6 pm on Saturday, September 2 at the Community Room, Te Awamutu Library, Selwyn Lane, Te Awamutu.

Reading 1 RU 2:1-3, 8-11; 4:13-17

Naomi had a prominent kinsman named Boaz,
of the clan of her husband Elimelech.
Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi,
Let me go and glean ears of grain in the field
of anyone who will allow me that favor.
Naomi said to her, Go, my daughter, and she went.
The field she entered to glean after the harvesters
happened to be the section belonging to Boaz
of the clan of Elimelech.

Boaz said to Ruth, Listen, my daughter!
Do not go to glean in anyone elses field;
you are not to leave here.
Stay here with my women servants.
Watch to see which field is to be harvested, and follow them;
I have commanded the young men to do you no harm.
When you are thirsty, you may go and drink from the vessels
the young men have filled.
Casting herself prostrate upon the ground, Ruth said to him,
Why should I, a foreigner, be favored with your notice?
Boaz answered her:
I have had a complete account of what you have done
for your mother-in-law after your husbands death;
you have left your father and your mother and the land of your birth,
and have come to a people whom you did not know previously.

Trump and Afghanistan: A Hidden Agenda "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

If you not sad to see Bannon leave, you must answer yourself a question: Is there any reasonable people left on the team?

If you not sad to see Bannon leave, you must answer yourself a question: Is there any reasonable people left on the team?

On Monday 21 August 2017 US President Trump made his long awaited statement on future US policy in Afghanistan. There was considerable speculation beforehand that as to whether Trump might announce a US withdrawal. The basis for that speculation appeared to be various statements that Trump had made both before and during his candidacy for the presidency.

Even closer to the time of the speech there was further speculation that he would announce an increase of 4000 US troops. The basis for that speculation appeared to be leaks from unspecified sources.

In the event the speech was an anticlimax. Although Trump conceded that his views had changed, there was essentially no change to US policy. Any change would have been a surprise as there are long established continuities as to US foreign policy generally, and in this case to Afghanistan.

The only voice in the administration making a different case was Steve Bannon, and his departure the previous week confirmed not only that there would be no change in policy, but that the takeover of the administration by the generals was now complete. Trumps three closest advisers on national security matters, Kelly, McMaster and Mattis have never shown the least interest in a reduced American military footprint anywhere in the world, much less in Afghanistan.

The figure of 4000 extra troops, although not specified by Trump, nonetheless remains the favoured figure by most commentators. Quite why this number would make any significant difference has never been explained. It is significantly fewer troops than the more than 100,000 the Americans had at the height of their troop engagement, and that number was conspicuously unable to defeat the Taliban or even exercise effective control over more than a small percentage of the country.

Trumps statement and the mainstream commentaries that have followed have barely mentioned if at all the more than 100,000 mercenaries that are operating in Afghani...

5 Surprisingly Clean And Actually Funny Comedies Streaming Now On Netflix "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

At the end of a long day, theres nothing better than a good laugh. (Okay, there are better things, but the goal is to keep this rated PG.) Experts at the Mayo Clinic note many benefits of what they call humor therapy, including stimulating many organs, so maybe in any event laughter is good medicine.

The trouble comes in choosing a film both you and your significant other wont find repulsive or unexciting. With Hollywood producing an endless variety of crude comedies, stopping a Netflix movie youve started is more common even than having Wi-Fi issues (curse you, Comcast).

Yet as comedian and star of The Middle Patricia Heaton says in interviews: There is a way to be real and a way to do quality that people can appreciate without feeling offended. My wife and I have found, after some trial-and-error-and-restarting-and-wincing-and-choosing-another-flick, that smart, surprising comedies do still exist.

Because Netflix availability frequently changes, theres no guarantee these five films will be around long. Or you can always rent on iTunes later, if youre made of cash.

1. The Matchbreaker (2016, rated PG, 94 minutes)

In this indie comedy, an entrepreneur realizes his talent as a matchbreaker mothers hire him to randomly befriend their daughters, dish dirt, and keep their girls from choosing the wrong guy. Getting paid to be snarky: a millennial fantasy!

Produced for less than the cost of a Marvel trailer, The Matchbreaker infuses common rom-com tropes with humanity revealed in hilarity. Whyd you break up with her? a guy asks his male friend scared of commitment. Seven reasons actually, the protagonist answers in nerdy deadpan akin to The Big Bang Theory. Number one, she doesnt vote.

For those who know the backstory, the film is also bittersweet, as it co-stars the late Christina Grimmie, a singer and actress who rose to fame on The Voice and was tragically shot by a troubled fan at a June 2016 concert. Her family has said that, as a laugh-out-loud comedy, The Matchbreaker is how shed want to be remembered.

Little hope for humanity with Trump at the wheel in USA "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

What hope is there for humanity? The answer must be: none, Canberra Times, Julian Cribb, 25 Aug 17,  The day foreseen by US journalist HL Mencken when the White House is adorned by a downright moron seems, on the face of the accumulating evidence, to have dawned. Regrettably this person has his finger on a certain button.

Why Americans are not more alarmed about this can only be attributed to the very poor level of scientific literacy in what is, to all intents and purposes, the worlds foremost scientific society. How Americans can be so great at science yet, in aggregate, understand so little about it, is a question for the Ages. Unfortunately, the Ages will probably not have the leisure to debate it.

The missing bit of information is that a nuclear war, even a small one, could eliminate most of civilisation, Americans (even those with well-stocked fallout shelters) included.

It is still an obscure historical detail that all-out nuclear Armageddon between the USSR and USA was avoided, in the 1980s, by some rather brave scientists sticking out their necks to warn Reagan and Gorbachev that their calculations had revealed that a nuclear war cannot be won and should never be fought, as Reagan summarised it in his Address to the Nation (1984).

These scientists had worked out that regardless of fireball, blast and radiation the amount of dust and smoke thrown into the atmosphere by the unleashing of multiple nuclear warheads would chill the planet by several degrees for several years, causing massive crop-killing frosts which would destroy the food supply for just about everyone worldwide.

NZ - Fluoride in drinking water is not the answer to tooth decay "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Dr Lawrie Brent hasn't seen any evidence to convince him fluoride added to water is the answer to reducing toothe decay.Three health professionals will add their weight to a move to keep fluoride out of Waipa's drinking water.
Dentists Dr Lawrie Brett, Dr John Jukes and Te Awamutu doctor Janion Heywood will present to a public forum hosted by Fluoride Free NZ in Te Awamutu on Saturday.
Backed by medical facts, they will discuss their own observations why Waipa's drinking water shouldn't be fluoridated.
After 40 years of working in an oral practice, Brett an active advocate for fluoride-free drinking water, remains unconvinced of any benefits of intervention.
"Not only was water fluoridation not reducing tooth decay, but that it also carried general health risks," said Brett

In 2014 Local Government New Zealand urged the Government to amend the appropriate legislation so that the addition of fluoride to drinking water supplies is a decision made by the Director - General of Health rather than a council.
The Health Amendment Bill is progressing through parliament and is at the second reading stage.
Once passed it will transfer the decision making process regarding fluoridation to the district health boards.
Any thoughts of DHBs having the only say without public consultation is hard to swallow for groups opposing fluoridation.
Fluoride Free NZ spokesman Kane Titchener recently presented evidence to the Waipa District Council outlining the proposed process was "fundamentally flawed".
"There would be a 10-person board making the decisions and it would include four government appointees and six members elected from the community," he said
"Their level of understanding of fluoridation would be no greater than local councillors making the decisions.
"Council continues to ignore the call to consult with the community on the issue.
"Under DHB control, fluoridation won't be stopped and soon it will be added to areas like Waipa who have never seen it before."
Titchener is disappointed with the council.

"They failed to understand they have not given their community an opportunity learn more about fluoridation and allow consultation."
The talk will be held from 4-6 pm on Saturday, September 2 at the Community Room, Te Awamutu Library, Selwyn Lane, Te Awamutu.

The best Australian music festivals you dont need to leave the city for "IndyWatch Feed Qld"

We love a camping festival as much as the next person, but sometimes you just want to soak up a bunch of music without having to pile all your gear into a car and drive to a paddock three hours away, and would rather a short train ride.

Besides, there are plenty of great music festivals going on right in our capital cities, and its easy to overlook them as you start thinking about your next trip to Splendour or Falls.

So, weve collected two of our favourite festivals from every capital city, sticking to a couple of ground rules: were only picking festivals in capital cities (or pretty close by), and weve also tried to stick to festivals that are unique to each city as much as we can (so no Laneway, Listen Out or Gizzfest).

That said, here are some festivals that are worth visiting a whole new city for.

Iodine, Thyroid and Low Body Temperature "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

The take home is that this is something you must do yourself.  Get a digital thermometer.  Check your temperature under the tongue. Add a drop of iodine to a glass of water.  Go from there as a daily practice.

One can become more rigorous, but that depends on you.  I will likely add a couple of drops to see if this cause convergence for me.  Yet a half degree is pretty modest but also meaningful and generally undesirable.  We want to close it up.

One also needs to take a supportive supplement with the higher dosage anyway and i have not hgone there yet..

Iodine, Thyroid and Low Body Temperature

Who will benefit from taking iodine? Actually, the answer is just about everyone will benefit from more iodine. Did you know that over 30% of the US has thyroid problems and that is probably a huge underestimate considering how iodine deficient the population is in the United States and around the world.

Chronic fatigue, low body temperature, weight gain, dry skin a...

Australian Govt Building Artificial Reef, as Great Barrier Reef Dies "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

The Great Barrier Reef off the northeastern coast of Australia is known as the worlds largest living organism, or largest structure containing living organisms. Mainstream science articles published an obituary for the reef in 2016, drawing some criticism for the fact that it isnt quite dead yet.

A March 2017 paper published in Nature claims that hundreds of miles of the reef had been bleached or died throughout 2016 alone due to high water temperatures. It seems as if there is much debate and controversy surrounding how bad the reefs condition is, and what is causing the condition.

In any case, the government of New South Wales, Australia has taken the opportunity to launch a project in Sydney to build a small artificial reef, to help native species thrive in Sydney Harbour.

According to a statement on an Australian government website:

A modular artificial reef will be suspended alongside the Sydney Opera House as part of a new research project exploring ways to improve marine biodiversity and increase native species in Sydney Harbour, Environment Minister Gabrielle Upton announced today.

The three-year research project, between the Sydney Opera House, the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), and the University of Sydney, will start by recording baseline data on fish numbers and diversity in underwater areas around the Opera House and in other harbour sites later this year. Once this surveying is complete the new...
