Canada will sign but may not ratify TPP AFTINET

Canada’s new Government is still treating the TPP with caution. They have now agreed to sign on to the TPP at the official ceremony scheduled in New Zealand in the first week of February - but the Canadian Trade Minister is insisting that this doesn’t mean that they will actually ratify the agreement.

According to the Globe and Mail, Trade Minister Freeland said:

“Signing does not equal ratifying. Only a majority vote in our Parliament can allow the agreement to take force. Signing is simply a technical step in the process, allowing the … text to be tabled in Parliament for consideration and debate before any final decision is made.â€

Australia Day - 40 years of Martial Law Corporate Australia

Many country's people around the world celebrate major events like the independence of a nation, in honour of victims of war, celebrating the dead and many more occasions that are specific to each nation's people.

The 26th Day of January was the day chosen by the 'authorities' for the plebs of Australia to celebrate a day called 'Australia Day'.

What does this day really signify?

Many people (especially Indigenous 'Australians') will call it Invasion Day, definitely a day NOT to be celebrated.

It's the day that the 'First Fleet' arrived in 1788 to begin an 'economic project' on this Continent with a ship load of 'convicts' (you know people who stole bread, because they could not feed their family due to the economic oppression by the 'authorities').

Then the slaughter of the Indigenous inhabitants began with full support of the British Monarchy, you know the descendants of the current Queen - Her Most Excellent Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second.

Please note also that the so called royalty of Europe was inbred where Queen Victoria is the Great Great grandmother of both Queen Elizabeth the Second and her husband Prince Philip, who are also cousins.

So what happened really happened when Captain Cook (not 'came to town', but rather) made towns.

Well without going into a 15 to 20 page document on the event's we've put it into a meme:

Robert Eggington on the critical response program to tackle high WA Indigenous suicide rate Perth Indymedia

We talk to Robert Eggington of the Dumbartung Aboriginal Corporation in the wake of the Federal Government’s pledged $1 million to set up a “critical response” project to tackle Indigenous suicide in Western Australia.

The Dumbartung Aboriginal Corporation has worked with the Aboriginal community at the grassroots level for 30 years in a wide ranging capacity. Preserving and teaching culture, being powerful and vocal advocates on Aboriginal issues, and working in countless ways to support the day to day struggle of Noongar peoples.

This photo (courtesy of Dumbartung) is of a meeting with WA Premier Colin Barnett and Robert and Selina Eggington which took place in 2013 immediately following an important suicide crisis summit organised by Dumbartung. The summit exposed the horrific reality and impact of suicide for Aboriginal people in WA and the need for greater funding and support for grassroots Aboriginal organisation to help address the issue.

Despite the tremendous and well recognised work over 30 years of Dumbartung, despite the significance of the suicide crisis summit, despite this meeting with the Premier and many other politicians, despite the overwhelming suicide crisis, Dumbartung has not had an increase in funding.

Quite the opposite, Dumbartung has had funding cut and today, on Survival Day 2016, is in a fight for its very survival.

Project Newsprint - Stage 2 - Victoria - concludes Unidentified Aerial Phenomena - scientific research

Hi all,

Stage one

Project Newsprint commenced in September 2015. Its main aim is to seek any previously unknown, past or current sightings, from remote and regional Australia, outside of the capital cities, by forwarding letters to the editors of newspapers.

Stage one was conducted in Western Australia, and the final stage one report may be read here. Some fascinating, older close encounter cases came to light.

Stage two

The second state in which I chose to run Project Newsprint, was Victoria. I submitted 100 plus emails directly to the editors of rural and regional newspapers, plus posted on their respective newspaper run Facebook pages. I advised that I was collecting sightings from their local area and that I would like to hear from readers about their experiences.

Detailed articles about the Project were carried by a number of papers, including the Mildura "Sunraysia Daily";  (two articles) the "Swan Hill Guardian"; the "Wangaratta Chronicle"; the "Mansfield Courier" and t...

Sex life of sleeping sickness parasite could lead to its own extinction (We) can do better

January 26 2016: A parasite which kills thousands of people each year in sub-Saharan Africa arose comparatively recently, and its unusual sex life may lead to its own extinction, scientists have found.

Researchers from the University of Glasgow’s Wellcome Trust Centre for Molecular Parasitology in the Institute of Biodiversity, Animal Health and Comparative Medicine have discovered that Trypanosoma brucei gambiense (T.b. gambiense), the main parasite that causes African Sleeping Sickness, has existed for thousands of years without reproducing sexually.

Top Ten Things You May Not Have Known About the Qur’an Muslims In Australia Since the 1600s

by Sheikh Furqan Jabbar

1) According to Islamic belief, the Qur’an is the verbatim word of God. This statement might be something you would think could be also be applied to the Bible as well, the difference however is that the Bible is a text which has been divinely inspired by God [1] whereas the Qur’an is the literal words used by God to convey a message to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as well as the rest of mankind via the angel Gabriel.

Seeing as this is the manner in which Muslims theologically view the Qur’an, one could understand how a fair deal of angst or offence is taken when there is talk of Qur’an-burning or Qur’an-defiling (for such behaviour is not only an affront on a religion, culture and people but also God himself). It is also for this reason that religiously or politically motivated bigots will not hesitate to make use of such things in order to drum up attention [2] to either themselves or their causes.

2) The very text of the Qur’an is believed to be so blessed that each letter of the Qur’an uttered in its original Arabic entails a good deed. [3] These good deeds will not only counted by the angels but will also be brought forth by them as evidence of good life on the Day of Judgement (Yawm Al-Qiyamah). In a prophetic tradition found in the collection of Imam Muslim, the Qur’an itself (by virtue of the blessings it has been endowed with) will gain a form of sentience during this time in order to intercede [4] for those who recited it and lived their lives by it. It is for this reason that pious Muslims regularly attempt to recite the Qur’an, some attempting to do so from beginning to end whilst others a special effort to do so during the month of Ramadan.

3) As Muslims believe in the existence of devils, demonic possessions, the evil eye and sorcery, the Qur’an is also used as a tool to ward off the ill-effects of any one of these supernatura...

Australia Day ambivalence (We) can do better

Back in 1788 on 26th January, the First Fleet of British Ships arrived at Port Jackson, New South Wales, having landed a few days earlier at Botany Bay. The British flag was raised right there at Port Jackson by Governor Arthur Phillip and the previous inhabitants were summarily and officially dispossessed. The First Fleet comprised six convict ships lead by two Royal Navy escort ships. There are varying accounts of the number of convicts who arrived in the First Fleet but I conclude after looking at a number of relevant sites that over 700 convicts arrived of whom about a quarter were female.

Part 17: Australia’s “irrelevant” Crimes against Humanity. Is the Linacre letter proof that on New Year’s Day 2016, Centrelink tried to defraud 73,000 unsuspecting people? Ronald's space

In the December 7th, 2015 Ronald’s space posting, I wrote that 1.1 million welfare recipients were at risk of being victims of Centrelink’s “Waivergate” scam. Is the Linacre letter below proof that just 3 weeks later, on New Year’s Day 2016, Centrelink deliberately tried to defraud 73,000 unsuspecting people?

[Note: the short link URL for this posting is:   http://wp.me/p1n8TZ-sb   ]

For a brief but very informative 7 News video article about this possibly fraudulent scam, click on this link: https://au.news.yahoo.com/a/30512118/centrelink-system-errors-leave-73-000-families-thinking-they-are-in-debt/

Below is a slightly redacted copy of the Linacre Letter in which the information that would disclose the identity of a welfare recipient has been removed. When you read this letter, there are several questions to consider:

  1. What information did I provide to Centrelink;
  2. Why did the Acting Chief Legal Counsel decide to ignore the constitution, statute laws, High Court decisions, international conventions and laws, and common law rights?
  3. Most importantly, did Alice Linacre or her predecessor, Vicky Parker, have the legal right to ignore the constitution, statute laws, High Court decisions, international treaties and international law? [Hint: the answer to that question is the opposite of “yes”.]
